Hi, I had my regular pap smear this month and the results came back saying that abnormal cells were detected. I’ve been married for three years now and we have a baby girl together, so I have absolutely no idea why would my pap smear give back these results. I never had HPV and my husband and I were exclusively dating for two years before we married, so I don’t know how could I have contracted HPV.

That’s why I’m hoping someone will help me figure out if atypical cells are always caused by HPV or could it be something even worse? I have colposcopy scheduled in two months, but that is way too long to wait to find out what’s going on. Does having atypical cells mean I’ll have to go through biopsy?
