My wife says that I am an obsessive cyclist. I take pride in being a “biking fanatic“. There is something special about riding only cyclists understand. I usually feel fine after long ride. However, I have been experiencing irregular heart beat lately. Since my father died from a heart attack, I am worried. What do you think about arrhythmia in cyclists?

You should go and see your doctor. He will tell you if this requires an examination by the cardiologist. Irregular heart beats can be a result of inadequate magnesium intake. Three minerals are essential to the muscle contraction; magnesium, calcium and potassium. Your heart is a muscle so if any of those three minerals are not present in sufficient quantities or their ratio is out of balance you may experience muscle cramps, insomnia and arrhythmia. But, the final verdict will be made by your cardiologist.

I have a chain of heart sufferers in my family as well. I began to worry when my heart palpitations started getting worse. I can across this article that has led me to many other great resources. I learned that heart arrhythmia and a fib were caused by magnesium deficiency. That magnesium is the mineral of the heart and we need it for our heart to function at its optimal. There are many foods that have it but its not enough these days since our soil is deficient also :| When you exercise your sweat out minerals and magnesium. when you drink coffee you deplete your magnesium. It was a shocker to me too once i started researching more on the topic. Anyways, once i started taking the pico ionic magnesium recommended in that article, within a month i was have no more heart palpitations and my constipation cleared up along with my leg cramps and other contrast i was experiencing. I think since your an athlete you would benefit as well!! Good luck and hope this helps!!!
