What causes loss of balance and/or Equalibrium problems? We have really bad air alerts because of a fire. Can this have anything to do with it?
Loss of balance is called disequilibrium. There are many factors that could be causing this problem. Many things depend on your age and your general health and I would suggest you consulted a doctor if your problem persisted or became worrisome.
Some of the main causes include inner ear disorders, viral inflammation around the labyrinthine nerve, other nerves’ problems, vision problems, diabetes, medications and muscle problems.
In order to realize what it could be, you would have to describe your symptoms to a doctor and then according to these, your medical history and different tests results, a doc could find out what is going on.

Please can you help? I have been falling about the place and instead of walking straight, always ending up somewhere to the right.

To Guest,
It sounds like inner ear to me, but you REALLY need to see a doctor to find out what's going on and get it treated.

I started off with a bad cold bug which resulted in an ear infection that I wasn't aware of (it didn't hurt or feel different) until just before my ear drum ruptured May 1st.

I still have no real balance. Some times it's better than others. I went out in public once and was all over the place. It's a good thing I had my hubby to hang on to or it would have gotten ugly fast! :-D

Good luck luck and I really hope it's something minor!
