Hello everybody,
My grandma is currently hospitalized – we took her to the ER thinking she is having a heart attack, but all they did was to give her Ativan to calm down and see if it helps. Her main symptom then was sharp, shooting chest pain, but since the pain was worse when she breathes, she was referred to pulmonary specialist.
When we finally got the appointment with pulmonologist, he immediately told us she has a severe case of pleurisy and she stayed in the hospital that day. The nurse explained me that my grandma was kept in the hospital because the thin lining that separates ribs form lungs is inflamed, but she didn’t say anything about what caused this to happen. So, what are the causes of pleuropericarditis?
