What could help with Effexor withdrawal?

It does work well. For me, I gained 30 lbs in 4 months and had a hard time staying awake during the day.

celebrex makes you need more effexor. I was on that path, the minute I stopped taking celebrex. I had to lower my dose of effexor. celebrex reacts to effexor . look up on drug interactions. Ibuprofen of any sort will do this to you.

I have been on effexor XR for going on about 20 years, I want to get off of it. Since I have been on it so long, will it effect me more dramatically, I am scared to death to try, but I want to get off some of these meds. Help!

how long did you find the withdrawal symptoms lasted? I have a very similar story and I'm about 3 days off after taking it for a week. It would be great to know that feeling this crappy is going to go away soon!

One day, the effexor will stop being effective against your depressive symptoms; potentially after 10 years or so. You will then need to come off this medication whether you want to or not- at least while the psychiatrist are trying to figure out what kind of medication to put you onto next.
I'm coming off it because it does not treat my depressive symptoms, and I was getting brain zaps whether I took it or not. Coming off it makes you feel like you are dying. It would seem to me that effexor is a neurotoxin, and is slowly poisoning people's central nervous systems. I have no empirical evidence to support this; there seem to be no studies that look into the hell that is coming off this medication. At least I found the topic for my thesis...

I was one effexor xr 150mg for 6 weeks. I went to the dr cause I was having horrible dizzy spells, brain zaps, and my mouth nose and hands would go tingly. DR told me those are what you experience when you go off this so we decided to wean me off. I did what he said every other day then every 2 days. Well I think that was stupid, I should have been lowered each week, this has been pure hell. I am 8 days NO pill and I feel like I'm deathly sick. My headaches are unbearable I've taken tylenol and nothing. I feel dizzy and nausea I literally had to quit work cause I can't function. I just lay and sleep. My headaches I feel are getting worse. I hate the mood swings I feel bad for everyone around me. Please help any suggestions. Oh and I sweat like a pig then I am shivering aND can't get warm. It's been hell. This drug shouldn't be allowed. This has been a living hell.

Wow, I honestly had no idea how bad this could be. I took half a dose all last week and then yesterday I took half the does again but didn't take my 450 dose of wellbutrin - I have no idea why - and today was the most miserable day I've ever had. I started out feeling dizzy (first time I felt anything since taking 1/2 dose) and it got worse and worse so I thought I'd take an extra wellbutrin to make up for not taking it yesterday... well, I became so dizzy that I couldn't walk and if I tried to walk I vomited. I vomited anytime I sat up or moved to quickly. This effexor stuff is NO JOKE. I wanted to quit because I have gained 20 lbs. I don't know what I will do - I'm a single mom and my 7year old is freaking out because she's never seen me so sick. Lord. This sucks.
