Hello, folks. I was at general practitioner's yesterday and he found me several skin tags. He explained me that they didn't represent a major problem, but that I should go to a dermatologist to remove them. I would like to know what problem I can have if i remove them myself. Thanks in advance.

Hello to you too. As far as I know, skin tags are not dangerous for one's health. However, I suggest you to visit a dermatologist. Although they are harmless, if you try to remove them yourself, there is a possibility of complications such as bleeding or infection. Another reason why I recommend a visit to a dermatologist is that he will give a correct diagnosis. I don't say that your general practitioner made a mistake, but a dermatologist is more experienced in this area. Skin tags can be easily misplaced with other, more serious conditions. In any case, don't be afraid. Removing a skin tag isn't complicated and it is easy. Please, let me know how it went. I hope I've helped. Bye!
