Ive struggled with lightheadedness my whole life and even survived the military in spite of numerous fainting spells. It was until recently i was diagnosed with gluten intolerance. Anytime i eat or drink anything with yeast, wheat, rye, or barley, my body goes into detox mode, which is not pretty for me. Severe dizziness..to the point of passing out, low blood pressure, dehydration, appetite loss, and brain fog. Gluten absorption clogs the intestinal lining and keep good nutrients from being absorbed. Its hard to get a diagnoses so i was suggest u all try to go gluten free for one week and see how u feel.

I know this is an old post but have you found anything to resolve your symptoms? I feel like I could have written this post as I have been experiencing the same thing. Anything you have to help! Thanks!

Lightheadedness can be a symptom of adrenal fatigue and/or thyroid problems. My endocrinologist recommended a book by James L. Wilson called Adrenal Fatigue The 21st Century Stress Syndrome. I recommend you give it a try. It's full of a lot of advice that has helped me reduce my problems markedly. It can take years for adrenal function to return to normal, but it's possible. Good luck and be well.

I get it often.  Not enough to be dizzy just really annoying - lasts all day/days.  I seem to get it on and off and so am going to start logging it.  Does anyone think it might be pre-menstral related?  Sounds like for some of you it is constant over weeks, months.

I am 51, with low blood pressure but not as low as it used to be, no unhealthy habits, sleep/exercise are fine, Neurologist checked out fine, etc.

in my 30 years of dizzy doctor practice I have met patients complaining of heavy head, empty head, concentration difficulties. Never - light head! It is possible to induce people believe that the Earth is positioned on three whales. But, what profit do we have from this artificial terminology?

Yours sincerely Dr. K. Trinus, MD

I have experienced dizzy spells and feeling lightheaded in the past and have thought that it might be stress related. Bouts have never lasted for very long and they tended to be few and far between. However, for the past three weeks I have felt lightheaded everyday and looking down seems to aggravate it even more. I am wondering if it might be due to an iron defficiency as apparently that can result in lightheadedness and fainting. Am going to check in with the Dr and ask to have my iron levels checked.

Low thyroid levels can make it hard for your body to assimilate iron. You may ask your doctor to check your thyroid as well. My lightheadedness could also be aggravated by looking down (doing dishes or laundry). Good luck in finding the cause. Mine seems related to my thyroid as well as low adrenal function.
