Hi, I'm 16 and also been experiencing these feelings. I'm a wee bit younger than everyone on here so I guess it can happen at any age. Similarly, to someone else I had an episode of a horrible anxiety attack as well as the flu the week of Christmas. My GP was quite useless and said there was nothing 'magical'. At the end of this month it will have been 3 months. It started off as full on dizziness, the whole room would be spinning all the time! Very hard to concentrate in classes and when in conversation. But slowly with natural alternations to my lifestyle it gets better I guess. I started taking an Iron pill for 2 weeks, this helped ALOT. (Too much iron is bad so bare this in mind). Then this lightheartedness as if butterflies were in my brain is present. Coffee and soda's always seem to worsen it sometimes so cute them out of your life. Eat fish helps the brain, and sleep is the key. Good night sleep. Early rise run if you can and if stressed I used the Bach stress remedy (sold at boots and pharmaceutical shops) in the spray form it is AMAZING. If not eat well, don't miss meals and drink water throughout the day. When I consume alcohol it doesn't seem to harm me much as long as I get a good nights sleep. It is inconvenient to our lives but I believe small alternations will only help it?
Has anyones gotten better of time??

So, I do have a diagnoses, and if it gives someone else comfort, I will share: It is called Chronic Subjective Dizziness. Also referred to as Phobic Postural Vertigo. My neurologist, who diagnosed me, gave me an article to read. It is titled "Chronic Subjective Dizziness" and was written by Jeffrey P. Staab, MD, MS. It can be found in the Continuum(?). Check www.aan.continuum. An interesting read (though I have not yet finished). It speaks to many of the things that have been discussed on this board. Namely that most doctors cannot diagnose it! It says, "Two studies showed that physical symptoms of chronic dizziness and unsteadiness (the latter of which I do not experience) waxed and waned with a tendency to decrease gradually over time (good news!), although complete resolution was uncommon." :( For me, the idea that I could not control or fix this, helped me to let that part of it go, which in turn alliviated some of the stress I felt over it. Though I do still suffer from the symptom, it is much more "liveable" now.

I have had this light headiness for the last 30 years. I am now l77 and still have it. To Drs. I always said I had brain fog.
But light headiness is more correct.. I have been to neurologists, m.c.'s, psycologists, etc. and no one can give me any relief.
I had to give up driving. The only time I don't feel it is when I sit or lay down. Not only that but it is getting worse. The only thing I haven't had is an MRI for I have a pacemaker. I am thinking of having it removed for a while so they could do a MRI! I am really getting desperate.

LUVMYKIDS,
I know exactly how you feel; I am really uncomfortable going anywhere alone with my daughter, it scares me to death if I black out or something, what is going to happen to her. I would rather not take the chance.
Have you been to an allergist? I went a few years ago, and the allergist I saw told me my symptoms weren't allergy releated, but that she would test me anyway. i was allergic to a lot of environmental allergies. She wasn't very helpful and didn't seem to be very understanding so last year I went to a different allergist, who said the symptoms I had could absolutely be allergy related. They tested me for a ton of stuff, including food allergies. I am allergic to dairy and yeast, as well as a boat load of environmentals... I started allergy shots about 12 weeks ago, and I don't want to be too optimistic (call it causiously optimistic) but I think it might be starting to help. I also eat primarily meat and veggies, barely any starches, and I'm about to cut the rest of the starches out. I'm going to give the Whole30 a try. I have been told this book will change my life... We'll see about that. How long have you had these symptoms?

my symptoms started about 20 years ago when I got hit in the neck. Alot of 'ringing in the ear' , kinda like your heart beating in your ear. Dizziness was mainly when i stood around and talked or went in the stores to shop. Always felt like i was going to pass out but never have. I been taking a vitamin for your feet called NeuRemedy and that seems to be helping alot with the dizziness. That vitamin is for neuropathy so makes me think this might be a 'nerve' thing. I just get so tired of not being able to live the way i want to because of it. Lets just keep praying someone comes up with some kind of solution.

Hi, its me again the 16 year old..recently realised my vision was strained, if you are a student like me or work in an office or in general everyday life use the computer a lot it could perhaps be vision. i went to my optician and it turns out i do need glasses and the use of computer has almost worsened my vision. it's worth checking out because she said in many cases it does help peoples dizziness or depersonalisation feeling. Also, everyone that keeps going to a neurologist there is no point, the majority of the time nothing comes out of these tests an the tests are negative. Get a bloody test and check your amenia levels and take a good (expensive) multivitamin. Eat h

sometimes i felt like it was my eyes, sometimes my sinures, maybe my nerves or ears....who knows. But, If you wear bifocals, it may be that they don't sit right on your nose...have them adjusted. I got new glasses and see fine out of them about 4-6 months ago. I'm still having the dizziness so i don't think mine is my eyes...but if yours was, i'm glad you got it taken care of.

That is wonderful if that is what was causing it for you! I'm so glad you found out so quickly! My vision is pretty poor so I have them checked quite regularly. Unfortunately, I know that is not what is causing my problem.

Many times lightheadness can be related to a vestibular disorder. Many general practice doctors aren't too familiar with these disorders and specialists will need to be found. If you perform a web search for "treat dizziness" (dizziness is a broad term that includes lightheadedness, spinning such as vertigo, motion sickness, and imbalance) in your area you will be able to find providers in your area that may know better how to treat those disorders.

You hit the nail on the head. I've been following this thread for years and this is spot on. I feel so bad for everyone here because I can completely relate

Wow, same exact feeling. Lighheaded/dizzy for weeks at a time that seems to increase when I get tired or stressed. I have also had all of the tests done, and the only result was Vertigo. It does seem to go away when I drink too. I feel it is on my right side as well & usually get a stiff neck on that side prior to the dizziness starting up. This is why I was diagnosed with Benign Paraxysmal Positional Vertigo, but the symptoms supposedly only last for about a minute yet mine are consistent. Have you found anything that helps?
