Worst: DNF my second marathon. I had incredible work stress, working 7 days a week for 3 months lead up to and thru the race. Dropped out at the half. My training despite work was going much better then my first marathon too.
Best: Time wise a big PR in a 5k race this spring. Most memorable my first marathon. Even tops the 1/2 IM I just did. Probably because it was my first major endurance race.
Favorite: Racing with friends :)

Looking back: What was your worst race? I ran a 5K cc race two years ago, I beat only one lady. I showed up early am for the race to be told that the masters ran in the afternoon. I wish that I would have gotten in my car and drove home and spent time with the kids. This is even worse than the 2 times I landed in the medical tent after a marathon. What was your best race? California Int'l marathon. First time I realized that a marathon does not have to be painful What is your favorite race?

What was your worst race? MATC 5K Turkey Trot last year. Wind howled like a banshee, and a killer hill you had to climb twice! That was alleviated by meeting my first RR - Shelee ! :D - and by nearly getting run over by a deer while warming up for the race.
What was your best race? The Quad Cities half. Came in way faster than I thought. And 231st out of 589 in my first half - still can't figure that one out!
What is your favorite race? For the view, Beach 2 Beacon. For crowd support, three-way tie among B2B, Lighthouse Run 10 mile, and Fish Day 8K.

Worst race: Freedom run 5k in New Orleans 3 weeks ago. The race had about 300 people total, yet I thought it was poorly organized. I thought I was running great, just keeping at the back of the front pack for the first mile until I saw I was on a 6:50 pace. Ran a very disappointing 20:43 when I fully expected to be near 19 flat. Several other factors in my life also contributed. This was just not a good week. I almost quit running because it was so disheartening. And to top it off, I finished 3rd in my age group, yet awards were only given to first and second places. They also spelled my name wrong on the internet results.
Best race: LSU Lake to Lake 5k. First win, and new pr.
Favorite race: I haven't run any race more than once, as this will only be my second year running. I plan to run Cajun Cup 10k and the LSU Reindeer Run 5k again though.

Ocean Driver marathon, race started at 60 and sunny
ended at 35 with a 25 mph headwind. I was miserable when I finish. I went through the finish chute, got my blanket, medal and food, and left, from the time of finish until time to car was less than 3 minutes.
Best race....this year at the Delaware county tough cop- I ran the relay part of a race...I started in 2nd, finsished the first lap in 1st ended up in 3rd place. I ran faster there than in my entire life.
favorite-probably Broad street run in Philly. I will do this race until I am on my deathbed. It has a lot of character and is just a neat experience. I ride the subway to the start with a bunch of nervous runners, run through a lot of Philly neighborhoods, like 12 water stops the whole way.. Just a neat race to run every year.

What was your worst race? Philadelphia Marathon, . Trained real hard for it, but hip bursitis flared up at mile 15 and caused a lot of agony. Still finished but was disappointed in my time
What was your best race? Sharon Hill Fun Run, Which turned out to be last race. Turned in my best ever performance, 9th overall and won my age group

Worst Race: GPAC Conference meet during my Junior year of college. A few of our runners were out with injuries and mono, so i got tagged to be our 7th runner. It was my worst race of the year and it was such a disappointment, especially since i was so excited to get to run the conference meet that year and prove myself.
Best Race: 5K Conference meet, senior year of high school. It was the first race i had broken 20 minutes and there was a quote in the local paper from my coach that said it was the "best race of Joe's career, bar none". I ran a faster 5k split than that in a college race, but none was as satisfying.
Favorite race: A high school meet at St. John's college. It is one of the few that was on trails and there were wild turkeys on the course.

What's my worst race?
A 10K I did last year-Though it was mostly flat, I started too far back in the crowd (of 2000+ people), got stuck, and ended up not doing as well as I expected (ended up with a 44:30 time which was pretty disappointing) I could also add in my HS X-country races especially during the 1st year I joined...

Ironically it was my 2nd 10k (9.5k) I did last year-ran it in 40:49, placed 5/14 in my age group and 146/1122 overall

Worst race would be my first race ever, last summer, end of July. It was an evening race 6pm. Race course was described as FLAT but actually had a nearly 1 mile stretch with a gradual incline. It was still 90+ degrees and very high humidity at race time. Now throw a 15 MPH headwind and a f*ckin' hog farm into the mix. 8O I walked a few times and puked at the end, but still finished 2nd in my AG. BTW same course this year was described as rolling hills, WTF??? :umno:
Best race would be the 10K in Madison this year. Meet lots of CR's and RR's. Ran with Gretriever till close to the finish when he went ahead. 9:27 pace, felt great. It was immediately after crossing the finish line that the Marathon bug hit me. 8O "I'm a gonna run me a Marathon, yes I am!!!"
Favorite race would be last weekends half marathon at the Quad Cities. After a horrible summer of injuries and personal issues, I had something to prove to myself. I did it. Not fast by any means, but consistant. What a feeling of accomplishment. :thumbsup:

Worst race: Caesar Rodney Half, which was my last race before the year from hell (benched repeatedly due to injuries and illness). My running partner and I missed the turnoff back into the park and ran over a mile out of the way before we realized we were lost.....and had turn back and run another mile to get back on track...up to then I had been on pace for a massive PR (well, for me a 2:20's-ish half would have been great) and I crossed the finish line screeching in fury for the race director's head on a platter. My buddy DNF'd around mile 10. :(
Best race: Kimberton 5K, the only race I ever got hardware in (other than finisher's medals) for being the third fastest fat chick in town! I love that race, although I guess this is the last year I could have competed in the Clydes category and I wasn't able to run it.
Favorite race: Runner's World Half, without a doubt! It was my first half and I was horrendously undertrained, but I loved it....and can't wait to do it again next year! Bands on the course, bagpipers at the start (my personal favorite) and a great crowd at the finish!
Running a close second for fave was the Cooper River Bridge 10K in Charleston. Not my best time since we got stuck behind the walkers for two miles before the crowd broke, but an awesome race, 27K people running over two spans of huge bridge, spectacular view and a really great post-race foodfest. Bonus points to the beach accommodations xtremrun found us nd being able to share it with my old Kick posse.

Bob Marley Toys for Tots 5K. I had been out celebrating my new-found freedom at a Christmas Party and was a little (read QUITE) hungover. My time was horrible. I felt like :puke: the whole way. But it was self-inflicted so I figured I deserved what I got.
What was your best race? Timewise my best race was the Kerryman's Pub 4-miler when I pulled a 34 minute time outta somewhere. But endurance-wise I did a ten miler in 1:41 in rain, sleet and snow.
What is your favorite race? I've never repeated a race yet, but I think it would have to be this last one. Nothing beats saying that word - MARATHON even if it was only half of it. ;)

Looking back: What was your worst race? What was your best race? What is your favorite race?A 5-miler in West Fargo, N.D., on an April morning with temps in the low 40s but 35-45 degree continuous gusts out of the North...brrr. And 2 miles of the race was straight into the wind. I can't believe I didn't drop out. Best would be a 10K at my alma mater, Moorhead State University, which I kept up about 9:20 splits (fast for me) and won my age group. Granted, I was the only one registered in my age group! That should tell you something about my hometown and running. I don't have a favorite yet--I need to do some more before I decide that.
