Noticed this horrible smell right away after my Leep.  My doctor did mention this to me I just didn't know it would be this GOT DANG HIDEOUS!!!

I'm sorry to hear that you're having a difficult time following your Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP). LEEP is a procedure used to remove abnormal cells from the cervix, and some side effects, including an unusual vaginal discharge, are not uncommon afterwards.

After a LEEP, it's normal to experience a discharge that may be dark, watery, or somewhat foul-smelling. This discharge is a result of the healing process and can last for several days or even a couple of weeks.

Here are a few things you should know:

  1. Normal discharge: Immediately after the procedure, you may notice a dark discharge for a few days. This is due to the solution used during the procedure to minimize bleeding.

  2. Healing process: Over time, as your cervix heals, you may notice a discharge that can range from clear to yellowish in color and may have a somewhat unpleasant odor. This is due to your body getting rid of dead cells and is part of the normal healing process.

  3. Infection signs: While a mild odor can be normal, a strong, foul odor can be a sign of an infection, especially if it's accompanied by other symptoms like pain, fever, or unusual-colored discharge (e.g., green). If this is the case, contact your healthcare provider immediately.

Remember to follow the post-procedure guidelines provided by your healthcare provider, which often include refraining from inserting anything into the vagina (including tampons and having sexual intercourse) for a specified amount of time.

Again, if the odor becomes extremely foul or you develop other symptoms such as fever, heavy bleeding, or severe abdominal pain, please contact your healthcare provider as soon as possible as these could be signs of a complication or an infection.

In the meantime, try to keep the area clean and dry, and wear cotton underwear to help wick away moisture.

Best of luck!
