Did you, or does anyone else find out/know what this is?
It is not what the majority of you are saying as everyone experienced inflamed/exposed taste buds at some point and this is different due the lack of pain. It seems to be un-raised also. I would be extremely grateful if someone could help.

If you have a sore throat AND swollen lymph glands you MUST go to a doctor after 2 days of symptoms. It could be anything from a STD to an autoimmune problem. If there are no other disturbances like the lymph nodes, achy throat, elevated body temperature or weakness then look at your diet. I found that eating certain foods caused me to have all sorts of ailments from migraines to rashes to these pesky little tongue bumps.
In Mexico some people call them "fuegos" or "fires" because they sort of feel like little spots that catch fire when you rub them the wrong way!
I'm a nursing student and SURPRISED at how much we DON'T know about our bodies/health...

All of you freakin out about oral cancer can take a deep breathe. My friend is a dental hygenist and she too said it was irratated taste buds. Gargle with warm salt water or mouth wash every couple of hours and it should go away in a day or two. Do not try to pop it or scrape it or cut it open. IF the puss gets down your throat it could be a serious case of staph infection.
Now if you have had the bump for more than 7 days and it seems to have gotten bigger or changed in appearance than see your doctor for possible cancer. Everyone on here seems to be having the sae symtoms so I don't think everyone here has cancer!!! My 15 year old son has one and he does not have cancer. He does wear braces and this is the cause to his bump. And his is very painful but nothing we can do for it.

It is almost certainly not cancer, if you have a small bump like this it is likely a canker sore. It will go away in a few days.
If it remains for a long period of time, (over 2 weeks) then I recommend seeing a doctor, but until then just try not to irritate it, these things are annoying but completely harmless.
