I just got home from an injection in L2-L3. I couldn't believe how much it hurt! Like you I felt like I couldn't breathe and my face must have been beet red. She backed the needle out a little, but that didn't help much. I couldn't believe how painful it was!!

I had the same feeling, I had sedation though, I've had other epis and forcetts but my doc said this was a different kind of epidural. I didn't watch but as soon as the needle went in my right leg felt like it was exploding and felt like it locked up and about 5 minutes later I was fine, so weird, never felt anything like that. I hate it for the guy that a doctor wants to torture because a few seconds of that I would tell them anything to stop the pain. It's totally different having a deep pain like that from a needle, that was crazy.

You can wear a tens unit out outside of your body. I would not have surgically implanted.coworker did and had it removed.installed lower back just under skin.and he felt zaps in feet like your tongue touching battery end.Get more opinions.

I just had my second epidural injection in my L5-S1, I was given a Valium to take one hour prior to the procedure, everything was going fine until he injected the cocktail and OH MY LORD the pain down my leg and calf was excruciating I did yell out and started crying, It subside after a minute or two but nothing like that for the first one. If I decide to ever have another they will have to knock my ass out. I also took a nap after I got home and woke up dreaming they were doing it again. I was awful.

I just had my first L3 spinal injection today. The doctor rubbed something on my back and then inserted the first needle a minute later. I swear I felt that needle touch my spinal cord! It hurt so much! He then inserted another needle and started twisting them both around.i felt each twist and turn..i whimpered ow ow ow that hurts...he told me to breathe...i started to sweat profusely. When he finally removed the needles the nurse asked me to sit up. I told her no because I was beginning to pass out and told her I was going to throw up...she gave me a few seconds and tried to raise the table in an upright position again...i told her no because I was beginning to black out again. She then realized I was soaking wet with sweat and her and another nurse then covered me with 10-15 ice packs. They kept telling me to stay with them and keep my eyes open....i finally cooled off some and was able to sit up but still felt sick. I was wheeled out in a wheelchair, given crackers and ginger ale and then wheeled out to the car with my husband. It's been 7 hours since the injection and I feel so much worse than I did before I had it. I'm naseaus, headachy, spiking fevers, having severe hot flashes and in more pain. I will never do this again. I had to take tomorrow off work. I planned to feel better not worse

I had a 5L S1 epi without sedation. I thought I would pass out from the pain it was so bad. The doctor kept telling me to not move or it could damage my spinal cord and it was all I could do to simply lie there and feel that pain shooting down both legs, taking my breath. I was squeezing my hands into fists so hard that my fingernails drew blood. I even had nightmares for several months following this. I've had two natural child births prior to this epi and the pain was nothing in comparison. Although the epi helped me for over a year, the thought of having to endure that kind of pain again was enough to prevent me from going back to have it done again. After I had gone through this horrible, nightmarish pain, I discovered they can sedate you. Many people I talked to said they don't remember a thing, no pain. Was it where my epi was done that caused me so much pain or am I simply a baby and can't take it like others? I have RA and have been told I have a high pain tolerance so all I can say is the epi hurt me more than anything that's ever hurt me in my entire life. Horrible pain.

Just had 2 injections today. The pain as the medication surrounded the nerve was excruciating! Childbirth hurt less! First injection sent pain down the inside of my leg into my foot and big toe. Second injection was even worse as the sciatic nerve was involved. I screamed, shook uncontrollably and broke out in a terrible sweat. The doctor injected a numbing agent after the steroid, so the pain subsided after about 45 seconds.

Did the shots help your neck. How did you feeling after it? I get neck pain every day. I just had my first spinal epidural in my back and its the 4th day and I am still not feeling well.

I was tortured by an epidural. Strapped down, then held down because I was screaming in pain. Then I passed out. I could not walk 2 days later and lost ability to use bowel and bladder. I had an injection prior to that that hurt, but didn't injure me. Of course the doctor dumped me and I was left a cripple at age 29 with a young child as a single mother. I have huge spinal issue I have had 4 spine surgeries because I was unable to walk. My doctors are wanting me to get injections for the horrible pain I am in, but after what I have been through I would rather die than subject myself to more torture and abuse by doctors.

I agree with the above patients. Mine was awful. Pain was awful. I chose sedation the next time, and much better. However, afterwards I experienced thunderclap headaches for an entire year and taken by emergency ambulance each time to the hospital. Imagine the worst possible pain screaming pain and your head wants to explode. I lived in great fear for two years after and then they just stopped. I've been headache free for 6 years and never had anything close to these headaches before in my life. I had lower back injections. I imagine mine was an unusual case. The drs. were stumped they could not see a spinal leak and no answers. Their office came to my bedside at the hospital and said they could not have caused this. I would be taken to a hospital, come home and bam it would hit again out of nowhere. After 2 years, my neurosurgeon thought it was a caused by spinal fluid loss.
