wow! It's nice to know I'm not the only one. I get really severe pain upto two days before my period starts and I get it everywhere sound my stomach and lady parts it's that bad that I faint and can't do anything or even stand up. I also get it all the way down my left leg and have always wondered why this is. I used to take paracetamol but I found this made the pain worse so I went to see the doctor and they gave me codeine pain killers which still aren't covering the majority of the pain but make it bearable. They're also investigating me for endometriosis finally after 10 years of back and forth to the doctors. Fingers crossed they can resolve what's going on. It's nice to know I'm not alone in this though. Some times being a girl sucks. Good luck girlies x

This has always happened to me too. It's my sign to know my period will be starting within about 24 hours. I know we still have to live life and function but for at night when it's time to sleep try a heating pad or heat patch on your thigh for a restful night! Good luck!

I was told it was common when you are ovulating and your pelvis adjusts.

Omg I'm on mine right now and I'm going through the same thing. This is the first time it's happened to me. Mine is on the tops of my thighs and it feels like cramps but also its more of just a really uncomfortable feeling. It's so awful. Putting a pillow between your legs kind of helps.

I have the same pain in thighs and hips before and during my periid. I learned red blood cells are made in the bone marrow of the largest bone which is the thigh bone so maybe it's pulling the blood from there to compensate blood loss. Just a thought. Heat definately helps.

Glad to know I'm not the only one. I have almost unbearable pain down the left leg on the left side of my thigh plus extreme pain where I think my one remaining ovary is. I'm 47 and had horrible cramps before my first child at 30. Now I will occasionally have light cramps, but this ovary leg thing is horrible. I think I may have a cyst on my ovary, they took my right ovary aout during my c-section with my second child because of a large cyst. I don't want to lose both ovaries, so I just suffer. I take 800 mg of ibuprofen (which is prescription strength every four hours and it takes a bit, but that will get it under control. If I miss a dose, AAARGH. I also alternate ice and heat on both the leg and ovary, plus a massager. Eventually, it will stop, but man, it's brutal.

I am a nurse and I know that during your period you lose amount of blood so their loss of minerals that live in the blood like iron, potassium & magnesium so when those minerals decrease in your body they irritate the type of muscles (Skeletal muscles) that live in your leg ! so some people they have sufficient amount of those minerals maybe because they're on multivitamins or they are eating really well ! So when their period comes they don't feel it in their thighs that's why somebody mentioned to eat bananas before and after period it's because bananas contain potassium ! Dehydration gravitate the symptoms so you need to have lots of water followed by a warm water bath. Magnesium rich foods like black beans, barley and artichokes are help to restore magnesium levels. Also eat some yogurt to restore lost calcium ok ! Hope this help ! Any questions I am ready !

Literally massaging my thigh as I'm reading all the responses... I was in tears yesterday and it's coming back again. Yesterday I did some walking and it helped a little but ended up taking 3 200mg pills cause I couldn't take it anymore. I've always had extreme pain.. Enough that I have even fainted and other times I've had to be rushed to the hospital. I just got on birth control after a bad episode I had last week and I just can't go another month with this pain... So hopefully by the next 2-3 periods it'll be better.
