I've posted earlier on this thread, indicating that I too have had a problem with yeast infections and Yaz.
I've returned now, several months later, to let everyone know that I switched to Tro-Lo-Sprintec, and the day I switched I stopped having yeast infections, and haven't had a single one since! Yaz was definitely the problem.

I took Yaz in November of 2009. I only took TWO pills and immediately I got the worst yeast infection of my life. On top of it I got allergic to the medication. The horrible yeast infection lasted months and I went from doctor to doctor and received 40 pills of Diflucan and I uesd Miconazole Cream nightly for 7 months straight. I was also given ten days of Ketoconazole. Everytime I stopped treatment the infection would take over my entired pelvic area. This medication also gave me a yeast urinary tract infection. I have had this vicious infection for 7 months straight. Then I finally started using 4% Miconazole cream for 6 weeks straight and took probiotics for months. The Yeast finally went away leaving me with a vicious Strep B infection which is apparently also incureable. Every doctor will tell you that Strep B is "insignificant" and is "naturally occuring in that region of the body". Strep B causes infections and can eventually be cured with enough Antibiotics I hope. I have taken 10 days of Augmentin, 7 days of Amoxicillin. The infection went back into my bladder ans spread to my kidneys. I received a shot of Rocephin, 10 days of Penicillin and will take Keflex after I finish the Penicillin. I hope it will go away at some point. I have been tomented with these infections for over 9 months now. I have gone to OB/Gyn, Infectious Diseases, etc. No one has been able to cure it so far. I completely blame the Yaz. I have never had a problem like this in my live. After only two pills of Yaz I got 9 months of torture out of it nothing else. I hate this medication.

this thread has been EXTREMELY helpful. I have been suffering from yeast infections for so long now, and my gyno thought it might be the condoms i use - i have tried 4 different types of condoms in the past 2 months with no results. the only other thing i can think it would be now is yaz. my only worry is that i switched from my first pill to yaz because i became really moody on the first one and yaz definitely helped that. anyone else in the same boat? i don't want to switch again if it's going to make my moods worse but these infections are ruining my sex life with my boyfriend!!!

I have been taking yaz for a year and I have the occasional yeast infection from it but it not as bad as what you guys have been saying.
Also reading the side effects from the pill it dose say one of the side effects is a yeast infection.
So the greatest help I can give is stay away from eating alot of bread and eat more yogurt and things that will help pervent these side effects.

At age 23, I started taking Yaz for acne, which had plagued me since puberty. Luckily, it cured my acne, and so I became a faithful devotee. Now at age 29, I am not so sure. I started having reoccurring yeast infections for the past three years. I've used fluconazole, which had been successful in the past, but I quickly became "allergic" to it. I say "allergic" because my doctors says I was experiencing a side effect. Well, it was severe enough that I NEVER want to take that medication again. Since then, I've used countless creams--not fun. It does seem like my yeast infections have tapered off a little bit in the past months but there's definitely still irritation even if the yeast infection tests come back negative. My yeast infections started happening around the same time I met my now husband. To say the least, I used to have a great libido. Now I don't--at all. I was blaming the yeast infections, which is of course likely. But I'm also thinking I just have a decreased libido from Yaz alone.

I always thought that I didn't need to switch birth control because I've never experienced mood swings for weight gain with Yaz. That, along with the fact that it seemed to cure my acne really skewed my perception of Yaz being a possible culprit for the decreased libido and yeast infections.

After going to some 10 different doctors/nurse practitioners--NONE of whom have ever questioned Yaz as being the culprit--I decided to just stop taking it and go back to condoms. And hey, what do you know, no vaginal irritation these past two months. We'll see how it goes, but I'm really optimistic. I'm hoping the libido comes back soon.

I've written down a couple alternative birth control pill options from reading these posts, but if anyone has any other recommendations for me, please let me know.

Solidarity.

I just started Yaz today and I feel a yeast infection coming on.

That may sound wierd to already know, but I had cronic yeast infections for about a year (6 years ago) and can tell pretty quickly.

I googled Yaz and Yeast infections - finding this site was a clear indicator that my suspicions were true

I have also been taking YAZ for three weeks now and have gotten a yeast infection and also a decreased sex drive so my doctor suggested I switch to tri-gerol when this pack is finished.

I'm SO GLAD I found that website. I was about to think I was crazy !I have been on Yaz for now about 2 years. This fall, (like 6 months ago) I started to have frequent yeast infections. Once a month.. once a week, and now, it's once a DAY. I couldn't handel it anymore, I'm changing now, seeing all your posts, I think I finally found the problem! I swear I tried EVERY THING, I can't count how many dollars I spent on medecins. I stopped wearing my favorite undies to change to coton ones. I'm trying Alesse ( I'm canadian, sooo ) and I hope it would help.Good luck to everyone who might read this post.

I have been on yaz for 5 years. As a child I would get the occasional uti. When I started getting them again I wrote it off as something I was just destined to get. Then I found out that what I thought was a uti was actually a bad yeast infection. I get them all the time but for years my doctor has insisted it isn't the birth control yaz and has run multiple tests that have ALWAYS come up negative. Now that I see all these other women with the exact same problem I am shocked that doctors keep insisting it's not yaz! I'm going off the pill as soon as my supply is out and talking to my doctor about this, and proving my point with proof! I am relieved to find people with this same issue that have found a common factor.

I was on Yasmin & had to get off due to terrible headaches that I never had before! I know t was the cause. Switched to Lutera & immediately had the same exact problem as yaz PLUS acne & making my skin dull & rashy. I HATE levonorgestrel. Ufff I pray t works for you!!!! I came off Lutera because the depression & vagjnal dryness were unbearable.
