I've been on Zoloft since January of '09... I started at 100mg, but my doctor increased it to 200mg last August when my mom started chemo and I left for college. I've always had insomnia and nighttime anxiety, but back in November it really started interfering with my school since I have early morning classes. I had been taking the Zoloft at night before bed, because I'm in the habit of taking my other meds at night as well. Well my doctor told me that taking the Zoloft at night was probably contributing to lack of sleep, so she suggested I take it in the morning instead.
I began taking it in the morning and I was actually able to fall asleep easier at night. Well, for the past few months I've been forgetting to take it on a regular basis because for some reason I just can't seem to remember to take it in the morning. I'll take it one day, then forget the next two days, then take it the next 2 days, then forget again, etc.
I imagine this is not good at all for my body, especially since I'm on such a high dose. Lately I've felt really "foggy", so to speak... and I've been getting headaches (which I rarely get). Also, my menstrual cycle is REALLY messed up -- I've been getting my period in the middle of my active birth control pills (Microgestin Fe 1/20) and then not bleeding at all during the inactive week of pills. I don't know if this has anything to do with the Zoloft or not, but I thought it was worth mentioning.
I'm also on .5mg of Klonopin at night (it's the only thing that puts me to sleep w/o feeling groggy in the morning).
Could my forgetting to take the Zoloft be messing with my menstrual cycle and causing the fogginess and headaches? Is it better to take Zoloft during the day as opposed to at night? Could I be getting withdrawal symptoms from forgetting to take my Zoloft for 3 days? Could my meds be interacting with each other?
Thanks so much!
