Get More Sleep
This beauty myth is one of the oldest - but it's definitely one of the best. "You must get your beauty sleep", It's completely true. Without enough sleep, your skin will look slack and dull, your eyes will be dark and your eye bags much more noticeable. Get at least eight hours of sleep each night and if you can't, cheat it by using a night cream or moisturizer designed for use when you've had little sleep. A light-reflecting foundation will help you look more awake too. Always try to get at least eight hours sleep per night - your skin will thank you for it.

Take Your Makeup Off Before Bed
Taking your makeup off before you go to bed is more important than you might think. If you don't, your pores will get clogged and your skin won't have chance to recover from the oxidative stress that it was put under during the day - and this can lead to premature aging. If you don't wash your face at night, free radicals that accumulated on your skin during the day will remain on your skin at night, causing further damage. Take 5 minutes to cleanse and moisturize your face at night and within a week or two, the texture and tone of your skin will improve.

Exfoliate
Exfoliating is an important step in the quest for clear, youthful skin, as it sloughs away dead skin cells, allowing young, youthful skin to show through. Too much exfoliation, however, and your skin will end up red, raw and tight, so you need to get the right balance. If your skin is particularly sensitive, just use a gentle everyday exfoliator once or twice a week. If your skin can handle something a little harsher, use a sea salt scrub or something with larger crystals. Rub the exfoliator into skin in small circles, with the tips of your fingers, then rinse gently with warm water before moisturizing.

Massage Your Eye Bags
Reduce puffy eyes in an instant and get rid of the dreaded eye bags by massaging them gently, or by tapping them with the tips of your fingers. Eye bags are generally caused by fluid sitting underneath your eyes, so massaging and tapping can help reduce puffiness by dispersing the fluid. You can massage bare skin, but for better results, use a little face oil or an anti-aging eye cream - the massage will not only reduce puffiness but will also help the product get to work right away. Finally, splash your face with some cold water - it'll dilate blood vessels and perk up your skin.

Bin the Face Powder
When your skin is a little older, face powder becomes one of your worst enemies as it settles into all of those fine lines and wrinkles, making them much more obvious - adding years to your skin. Bin the face powder and use mousse or liquid products instead as they won't settle into creases and will help to plump and fill out those lines. It's also a good idea to use light-reflecting and blurring products, as they bounce light off the surface of your skin, blurring lines and smudging away wrinkles. Use lotion, cream and mousse blushers and eyeshadows, too.

Use a Brightening Face Cleanser
Brighten and tighten those pores, improving the appearance of skin and giving you a more youthful glow by using a brightening face cleanser. Choose a product with retinoids, vitamin A and vitamin C, if you can, as these all improve the appearance of skin that is aging, boosting collagen production and helping to smooth fine lines. If you have oily skin, look for something that reduces oil and if your skin is particularly dry, choose a product that is designed for use on sensitive skin. Cleanse morning and night, rinse your face with warm water, pat dry gently and finish by gently massaging a moisturizer into your skin

Always, Always Moisturize
Never skip a moisturizing session. Your skin will appear dry, dull and flat without it - moisturizer helps to restore the natural moisture balance within skin, making it appear brighter, more radiant, and ultimately, more youthful. Choose a product that works for your age and for your skin type. There are literally hundreds of anti-aging moisturizers out there and which you choose really depends on your budget, but generally, the best product for you is one that slides onto your skin easily, is absorbed quickly, and that makes skin feel silky soft. Moisturize twice a day, morning and night, for the best results.

Keep Hydrated
The more hydrated your skin is, the softer it'll look - and the more youthful it'll appear. Dehydration is really common as many of us don't drink enough water but doing so can not only improve your health and in some cases, help you lose weight, but can also improve the tone and texture of your skin. Up your intake to around eight glasses of water per day and when you feel hungry, drink a glass of water before you start eating. Drinking plenty of water ensures that your skin will be hydrated from the inside out, giving you a more youthful appearance.

Banish Breakouts
Spotty, red, flaking skin is not a good look, regardless of your age, but as you get a little bit older, breakouts can be especially aging. Banish them by eating plenty of fruits and vegetables, using the right products for your skin and by drinking plenty of water. A strong, spot-fighting cleanser will also help to banish breakouts, as will using an exfoliator every few days. You should moisturize, too - it doesn't make your skin oilier, regardless of what you might believe, and will help to banish breakouts. If you do get the odd spot, dab a little toothpaste onto it - it'll dry it right out.

Add Omega-3s To Your Diet
Omega-3s are a healthy fat - and healthy fats, like omega-3s, help to lubricate the skin, which helps to maintain the integrity of each skin cell. This can prevent damage from free radicals, and in the long-term, could even help to prevent sun damage. Plus, omega-3s improve the health of literally hundreds of different systems within the body and research has shown that they can even help to prevent age-related diseases like Alzheimer's. Get omega-3s from fish, flaxseed, walnuts, edamame beans, healthy oils and omega-3 supplements.
