The new bob
Bobs are always fashionable, whatever your age - but this year, they've been given a bit of an update. Instead of going straight for a short, chin-length look, choose a bob that just brushes your shoulders. They don't have to be super sleek, either - in fact, the best way to wear this look is with loose curls and tousled locks. Blast dry your hair upside down until 80% dry, then scrunch in a sea salt spray to get beautiful, beachy waves. If you want a sleeker look, just run some ionic straighteners through hair, turning the ends of hair under slightly, then finish with a glossy shine spray.

90's scrunchies
The 90's are back in a big way this year and the look can be seen on everyone from Alexa Chung to Kate Moss - dungarees, anyone? One way to dip your toe into the trend, if you're a little bit afraid to take the plunge with a set of denim dungarees, is to throw on a scrunchie! Choose a patterned or textured scrunchie and use it to secure a ballerina bun, loose plait or just a high ponytail - or if you prefer, use a plain colored scrunchie and tie it in with the rest of your outfit.

Ombre is back!
One minute, ombre is trendy and the next, not so much - that's how it seems after all! But this summer, ombre is back with a bang and this time, it's better than ever before. Ombre is either natural, graduating from a pale brown through to a golden blond at the tips, or full throttle color, with graduated blond tips that can then be dyed a multitude of colors. For extra fashion points, choose a pastel hue - and if you don't have a pastel dye, just mix your colored dye with some super cheap hair conditioner to create your own.

Ballerina bun
The ballerina bun is a truly classic look and it's easy to achieve, too - making it perfect for work or play. You can also make it look as formal as you like if you have a special event to go to, or you can make it look informal, too, for a day out at the park or for shopping with the girls. Simply brush hair back into a high ponytail, secure with a band, then wrap the ponytail around the band before using hair grips to secure it into place. For a formal look, secure with a band, and for an informal look, pull a few bits of hair out of the bun and around the face to soften the look.

Plaited bun
A plaited bun is a fab look for spring/summer as it has that boho chic vibe that's just perfect at festivals or summer events. To get the look, pull hair to one side around the ear. Secure with a band, then braid, before wrapping the braid around itself and pinning into place. Pull some pieces of hair out of the bun here and there. For a more formal look, pull hair into a high ponytail before adding the braid and securing. For an extra pretty look, take a little hair from the ponytail to one side, braid, then wrap around the bun.

Super sleek ponytail
Super sleek is one of the simplest looks this season and it's brilliant, as you can adapt it to suit work or play. Simply brush hair back into a ponytail at the nape of your neck. For an edgy look, divide hair using a really deep side parting. Once secured with a band, use a little of the hair from the pony to wrap around the band and cover it, then secure into place with a hair grip. Use a little smoothing serum warmed in the palms of your hands to smooth out any frizzy bits, making sure that you avoid your roots.

Sleek and smooth
This sleek and smooth look is ideal for both work and play - our favorite kind of look. Blow dry hair using a diffuser and round blow dry brush until dry. Once dry, divide hair into sections, then run the hair straighteners through locks, working section by section until completely straight. Warm either some hair oil or hair serum between the palms of your hands then brush over the surface of hair from the ears down to the tips to smooth out any frizzy bits or split ends. Finally, spritz with hair spray to keep your lovely 'do in place.

How to make your hair beautiful
For a fabulous spring/summer hairstyle, you need to have fabulous hair - and for fabulous hair, you just need to invest a little bit of time and effort. Shampoo your hair every other day rather than every day to reduce oil build-up on the scalp, and condition your hair every time you wash it to prevent split ends and frizz. Once a week, use a deep conditioning treatment, and then every few days, smooth on a few drops of hair oil or hair serum. Whenever you use heated appliances, protect your hair with heat defence products just to prevent breakages and frizz.

Finishing touches
Finishing touches - things like plaited bands, cute hair grips, hairbands, bows and grips will all finish your look off beautifully. If you're not one for hair accessories, take a trip to a drugstore or clothes shop and take a look at the hair accessory section - you'll be surprised at how much of a difference they can make to your look. Just a hairgrip here, a scrunchy there or a boho flowered head garland there can really add to your look - so don't be afraid to try something different! You might just be surprised!

Finishing products
All of those finishing products can make a huge difference to the look and feel of your hair and although you might be tempted to leave them out, they're actually really important. Things like hair oil and hair serum can add shine to your locks, locking in moisture and preventing fizz. Heat defence products help prevent breakages, while putties, gels and waxes add style and texture. One of our favourite products is sea salt spray - it adds texture to the hair without adding weight, which makes it perfect for achieving a laidback, beachy look.
