Hi

I'm 19. Last month I had a 25 day period. I'm on birth control pill and as the doctor advised I skipped the previous month's placebo pills and continued with the active tablets. Meaning I shouldn't have had a period at all last month. But I still got my period. It started light and then got heavier till it was a full blown period. Finally I decided to stop my BC pills for a few days to see if that would help and thankfully it did. The period tappered off and finally stopped.

I was just wondering if a 25 day period is normal?
how long have you been on the pill? bleeding for 25 straight days is not normal nor can it be very healthy... i would look for a new doctor.

I've been on this pill for about 7 months now. And it's the first time it's given any problems.

Bleeding for a lengthened period of time (outside of your period) is not healthy and should be checked out right away. Anemia can set in and cause all sorts of complications, like fatigue. I agree, it is time to see a new doctor if you are not getting the answers you need. You don't have to just accept what they tell you, you can do your homework and find someone else who can help you. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that bleeding for 25 days straight is out of the ordinary. Are you under a lot of stress? Any changes in weight gain or loss? Have you lost any hair? Some things to think about. Best thing to do is head back to the doctor if symptoms have not subsided. Best of luck to you and please keep us informed on what is determined.
