A few months ago I’ve noticed something like a little nodule in my palm which in meantime has become a lump in palm. I first ignored it I thought it’s some temporary condition but this lump in my palm is becoming bigger almost every day. It looks ugly it hurts and I’m almost unable to do simple activities. So I wonder if this lump in palm may be removed. Thanks

This lump in palm you have is probably Dupuytren’s Disease. I’ve got operated my lump in palm but I think it’s getting back again. Usually it is recommended not to be removed for the severe complications that may be caused by removing the affected tissue. There’s risk while palm surgery to damage nerves so it might only worsen the condition. I was advised a surgery for unbearable pain I started to feel, came to the stage when I couldn’t even put my hand in a pocket. But this was my experience so it means that the patient with a lump in palm doesn’t have the symptoms of the same impact. The disease usually affects palm field at the base of little and ring finger and it may spread on the fingers and you probably experience that these nodules are very sensitive to pressure. Later on might happened that around the nodule appears some pits and those pits may be developed also on your fingers which was my case. I also experienced the third symptom of the disease and it is cord I have running from my palm to finger. This ugly band has caused the current bent position of my fingers. So I had a surgery but it seems to be of no help and for now there’s no un-surgical treatment there’re no drugs or injection that can be of help so in most cases it turns out that you’ll have to live with it.
