I have recently been in hospital with acute pancreatitis, I had similar symptoms twice before but was told it was merely acid reflux (I now know that diagnosis was wrong), but the most recent attack was so severe I had to go to hospital for about 5 days. It wasn't alcohol related nor did I have a gallstone, so will have to wait for genetic tests to come back. I am going for follow ups to keep an eye on my pancreas and will obviously receive further advice, but I was just wondering if anyone else has suffered from similar issues and how have they coped with not drinking anymore? A large part of my social life was going out and drinking and now obviously I have to cut that out which is a shame because I wasn't even a regular drinker. Additionally, how strict do you actually need to be with food? I'm trying to avoid fatty foods or any processed foods, but with foods like chocolate etc to what extent do you actually have to avoid them? Has anyone bought any supplements that have helped avoid future attacks and have been a success?
