I'm surprised that this is not an official side effect of taking this medicine after reading all these comments and experiencing it by myself. I had never this issue in the past but when I started to take phentermine. My only symptom is getting a strong ammonium odor and darker color in my urine. I already got tested for everything and it's nothing I could have. This side effect should be officially included in the med's description because it is real. I only wonder if once I stop using it it will disappear? I hope so cause this is very embarrassing!
Hi! Phentermine is a stimulant that is often prescribed as an appetite suppressant for weight loss. Side effects and reactions can vary among individuals.
If you're experiencing unusual symptoms or side effects from a medication, it's crucial to discuss them with your prescribing physician. They can provide insights into whether the drug could be causing the symptoms and guide you on how to proceed.
A few thoughts on your specific concern:
-
Dehydration: Phentermine can have diuretic effects, leading to increased urination. If you're not compensating with adequate water intake, you could become dehydrated. Dehydration can cause urine to be darker in color and have a stronger odor.
-
Metabolism of the Drug: Every drug is metabolized differently, and certain metabolites might be excreted in the urine, potentially affecting its odor or appearance.
-
Stopping the Medication: If the medication is indeed the cause of the changes in your urine, the effects will likely reverse once you stop taking the medication and it's eliminated from your system. However, how quickly this happens will depend on various factors, including your metabolism, kidney function, and other individual factors.
-
Other Factors: There could be other factors unrelated to the medication that are causing the changes in your urine. It's crucial to consider diet, other medications, and underlying health conditions.
Good luck!
