I am worried that I might be having endometriosis. My periods are heavy and I have severe cramps during this time. I use different meds for that. Anyway in recent conversation with one of the women I work with I found out that we have similar problems during cycle and she has been diagnosed with endometriosis.
Please tell me if it is there a characteristic menstrual cycle of the woman who has endometriosis?

Yes! Studies have shown that women with endometriosis begin their menstrual cycle at a significantly younger age than women without the condition; their cramps are severe and more frequent and intervals between periods are shorter. It is more prevalent in women who have a regular cycle than in women who have an irregular cycle. Women with a greater number of menstrual days had twice the risk of developing endometriosis.
