I developed Interstitial Cystitis 4 Years ago and have lost 27 lbs which I cannot regain. I now weigh 114 Lbs. I have to urinate 30-40 times daily but doctors do not attach any significance to this as contributing to weight loss.

Does anyone out there have any ideas, experience, or know someone who can explain this problem or help me find a solution?

Thanks
I don't know of anything medical that you can do, but try seeing a homeopath or naturopath. It sure couldn't hurt. It's worked very well for me in the past.

My daughter, age 24, suffers something awful from IC. From the time she was out of diapers we have been to uriologists! Not only that but I learned where every restroom was in every town we ever visited. Her bladder holds a mere 8 oz of fluid! I got off track here...I just want you to know I do understand how devestating this disease is.
My daughter has done just the opposite of you. She used to weigh 112 soaking wet. I bet she has gained 50 lbs in the last several years do to the fact she is in such extreme pain most of the time she just doesn't feel like doing anything.
I'm not saying IC might not be the reason for losing weight but I tend to feel like you may have something else going on. I believe we were told IC is an auto-immune disorder (they are still researching it). Since thyroid (& several other things) is also an auto immune disorder you may want to go to your doctor and have a blood test ran.
My daughter had a total auto-immune test ran because they feared she may have lupus or thyroid (since I have it) going on along with her IC.
I know when my thyroid troubles began I lost 45-50 lbs within 6mos to a year and I had not changed my diet.
Good luck to you.

One more thing I'd like to add...Could you share some of your medical stories about your experience with IC? Has there been anything that has helped you?
I think my daughter has been through it all and nothing seems to help. Just thought if people started sharing their personal experiences with IC, what has and hasn't worked for them, it would help everyone that has IC.
Thanks!
