Give the Paxil a try! I am a 41-year-old woman and I started having panic attacks in my early 20's where I couldn't even leave my home. I have been taking Paxil CR for years and it has been a lifesaver with very little side effects. I started on Paxil and then switched to the CR and love it! I can drive and leave my home again!

I don't have health insurance and even when I did it was really expensive but worth it.

Paxil has been a lifesaver and I highly recommend it!

I HAVE ALOT OF THOSE VERY SAME PROBLEMS.I USED TO BE SO CONFIDENT AND IT TEARS ME UP AT HOW WEAK AND OUT OF CONTROL I FEEL WHEN THEY HAPPEN. I ALSO WAKE UP TO ATTACKS. MORE SO THAN ANYTHING I FEEL LIKE I AM GOING TO DIE. MY HEART IS USUALLY WHAT BOTHERS ME THE MOST,WHEN THEY FIRST STARTED I WENT TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM AND WATCHED AS MY HEART RATE STAYED FROM ABOUT 180-200 BEATS PER MINUTE WHICH CAUSES MORE PANIC FROM THE EXCESSIVE BEEPING THAT THE MONITOR MAKES WHEN YOUR RATE GETS UP THAT HIGH. IT STARTED ABOUT 18 YEARS OLD AND I AM NOW 24. AS I'M SURE YOU KNOW FREAKING OUT ABOUT IT WHEN THEY HIT MAKES IT WORSE. THE BEST THING I DID FOR MY SELF WAS LEARNING TO CALM MYSELF DOWN AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.I'M ON LEXIPRO ORIGINALLY 20 MG. NOW DOWN TO 5 MG OVER THE YEARS. I KNOW THAT PAST DRUG USE IS THE CAUSE FOR ALOT OF IT.WHICH I ABSOLUTLY NO LONGER DO. I KNOW PEOPLE WHO HAVE NEVER DONE DRUGS AND HAVE ATTACKS SO WHO KNOWS. I ALSO HEAR THINGS AND SEE THINGS SOMETIMES, EVEN WHEN NOT HAVING ATTACKS. THE BEST WAY I CAN DISCRIBE IT IS LIKE A HUGE ADRINALINE RUSH THAT HITS FOR NO REASON AND WHEN I LAY STILL THERE'S NO WAY FOR IT TO BURN OFF.SOMETIMES I FEEL LIKE I CAN'T GET UP BECAUSE IT WILL BE WORSE, BUT AFTER TAKING SO MANY LYING DOWN I GOT UP AND SLOWLY MOVED AROUND LIKE AS IN TO BURN OFF THE ADRINALINE AND SOMETIMES IT REALLY HELPS. NEXT TIME YOU HAVE A BAD ONE GO TO THE HOSPITAL THEY CAN MONITOR YOU WHILE YOUR HAVING IT THEY'LL DRAW BLOOD AND CHECK TO MAKE SURE YOUR LEVELS ARE GOOD,MONITOR YOUR HEART, BLOOD PRESSURE, THE WHOLE NINE YARDS.AND YOU'LL SEE THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOU OR IF THERE IS THEY CAN BETTER DIAGNOS IT AND FIX IT. WHEN YOU GO THROUGH THAT A COUPLE OF TIMES YOU'LL SEE THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG AND THAT IT IS JUST WHAT IT IS, PANIC. OR YOU CAN BE MORE THOUROUGH AND GET A CAT SCAN AND BE FOR SURE THERES NOTHING SERIOUS GOING ON IN YOUR HEAD. SERIOUSLY DO THESE THINGS FOR YOURSELF, I DID AND I REALLY BUILT MY CONFIDENCE IN THAT I KNOW NOTHING IS WRONG WITH ME. END RESULT LESS DEPENDENCY ON MEDS, LESS ATTACKS THEY'RE MUCH MORE SHORT AND MINOR.MY FRIEND HAD ACCUPUNCTURE FOR HERS AND SHE SWEARS SHE IS CURED. WORKS FOR SOME AND AT THIS POINT THINK I MIGHT TRY IT MY SELF,CAN'T HURT.

getting checked out is always a good idea. But anxiety is best treated by CBT in my opinion and experience. I use the TEA form exercise from the book by Obitz several times aweek and it keeps my anxiety under control

I agree on all counts. If it is anxiety CBT is the best treatment I have experienced and I still do the TEA form exercise all the time. Life is good :)

Chances are it is your thoughts. CBT is what you need because it fights the cause of anxiety, your mistaken thoughts. Once you learn to counter and correct your thoughts you will feel a lot better.

CBT is the best and the tea forms helped me more than anything else so far!

Excellent points everyone. If you can change the way you think you can change your outlook more than you realize and get a lot more out of your life. The TEA forms have done that for me and I highly recommend CBT to all who want to treat the cause and not just the symptoms :-D
