Hello, i recently had Labiaplasty done privately in a Manchester clinic. I tried to go through the NHS but to no avail, because i'm only 20 it seems they didn't take me seriously enough.

I had the 'wedge' method and the worst part of the whole thing was the local anaesthetic injections and the pain on the first night once the anaesthetic wore off.

I took 7 days off work but it has still been very itchy up until now, day 13 post op, when most of the stitches have started to come out.

I took photos each day up until day 7 and i am now only taking them weekly. The change is astonishing. The remaining labia is really starting to retract and look quite nice now so i can't wait until after the 6 week mark.

I don't know if this is necessarily meant to happen or whether it will bury itself under my hood again but my clitoris is no longer hidden away under the skin as it was, i've tested...it's alot more sensitive, which will only be a good thing once i get going (never had an orgasm off penetrative/oral sex).

so yea, good luck to anyone getting it done!

Hi there,

I recently had a labiaplasty done in Atlanta with Dr. Miklos.  I had debated for years whether I wanted to have this done.  Was it a silly decision, but everytime I went to wear tight jeans or yoga pants, my labia would hurt by the end of the day.  I felt that they were always in the way with sex and it made me so self conscious.  I had heard so many horror stories that I did extensive research and even went to 4 doctors from all over the country before choosing Dr. Miklos.  I had mine done 3 months ago and wow what a difference.  Immediately I could tell that he did a great job and that they were going to look good once healed.  I was sore for a couple of days, but could function normally.  I never needed any pain medication (but I have a high pain tolerance).  After a few weeks the sutures went away and then after 12 weeks (just last week), I could start my workouts again!  Dr. Miklos in Atlanta did a great job.  His staff was amazing and very informative.  I picked him over the other doctors because he is a vaginal surgeon and he only works on the vagina.  He has done thousands of these procedures and had so  many before and after pictures to show me his results.  I was amazed by the pictures.  One of the doctors I went to did not have any to show me and that was a huge red flag.  You can read more about Dr. Miklos and see some of his before and after pictures at www.lvratlanta.com.  Good luck!

I just posted my experience below and the one thing I did not mention is that I was able to have sex at 10 weeks and it was great!!! I did not loose any feeling and in-fact my clitoris was more exposed making it more sensitive. I'm sure everyone's experience would be different...but my labiaplasty has only helped me.

Hi there, I'm from Ireland too and also thinking for a long time about the surgery.

Can you let me know how you are now and how you feel about the procedure?

You mentioned that you went to a gyne as opposed to a straight cosmetic surgeon. Do you still feel this was the best route? Was the cost similar?

I'd really appreciate your feedback on this and am grateful for your advice.

Cheers.

For some reason Linda's message was deemed private - I don't know why it would be?? It wasn't meant for just one person!

Perhaps you could repost as it must have been by accident.

Thanks.

I had laser labiaplasty two and a half months ago. The surgery lasted a little over an hour and i was fine the first day and a half. However, after the second day, it was the most pain and discomfort i have ever felt. I don't have children so the most i can say is that it felt like constant punching, itching, burning and i had to keep my legs open at all times because closing them HURT. But, every week, the pain slowly subsided. At first i was very limited, and had to stay at home for a month because of the stabbing pains that i kept feeling and mostly because i could not walk or sit comfortably. I walked like a penguin with my legs open and hunched my back a little for about a month and a half. But i will be honest, every week it hurt less and less and noticed major improvements in my appearance and the pain levels and stabbing feelings were less and less. But I'm not gonna lie, i cried a lot because it affected me emotionally as well. When i was finally able to sit, i had to sit on a donut cushion and believe me that helped! That was probably about 3 and a half weeks after surgery. I began driving that week also but made sure i did not drive for more than 10-15 min at a time (at first). Gradually, i was able to sit longer until finally i didnt need the cushion no more. I did not heal after 6 weeks (like most people do) and even now i feel a bit sore when i wipe myself after using the restroom. It's not painful, just feels like a small reminder of the surgery... Almost like a papercut down there. Overall, i don't look "perfect" but compared to how i looked before and trust me, it has boosted my self esteem big time. I am able to walk normal, sit, run.... Etc, except due to the "papercut"sensations when i wipe, i am nervous about sex and am afraid it will hurt. Has anyone experienced this? If so, how much longerdoes this last before i can feel 100% normal again? By the way, i have not worn pants or tight underwear yet, still wearing grandma undies and long dresses (the soreness makes me hesitant to wear anything tight). Overall, i highly recommend you do your research and find a doc who is double board certified and has a long list of experience. I am not suffering at all from the loss of nerve endings or anything like that, just the sore and sometimes papercut feeling around my outer labia when i wipe. I hope that guess away soon and will finally enjoy my life as out was before, except this time with a pretty vagina.

bad tears can be covered it all depends on how the dr vwords the diagnosis. my insurance covered a rectocele repair ,it can make it hard to pass stool or hold gas, a perineoplasty for tears and I complained of pain there, and a labiaplasty but the labiaplasty was called a partial vulvectomy bit was covered because large labia are a health risk an can cause pain, good luck!

How do you like your final results? I'm having surgery with Dr. Alter at the end of the month and am so nervous. I would love to hear how you feel about your results now.

Keep in mind that you will find mostly complaints here, Kay. People who are satisfied/happy don't usually go looking around the internet for places to tell others how happy they are.

If you have a competent/experienced surgeon you most likely will be fine.
