I’m taking Triamterene for hbp. Actually I switched on this med from metoprolol about a month ago. It seems to me that I experience disturbing arrhythmias due to triamterene. Am not sure if it is because of adjusting organism on new drug, new dose or something else. Anyone taking Triamterene? I take hydrochlortiazide along with triamterene. Please post about your side effects. Thanks.
Triamterene can cause light-headedness when you stand suddenly. That can cause arrhythmia and palpitations. I suggest you to contract and relax leg muscles before rising for a few moments. It should be helpful against postural hypotension that is associated with palpitations. Diuretics are sometimes associated with postural hypotension, so if you think that it harms you a lot, than ask your doctor to change your therapy.
