I have the same problem except my left side (where my heart is) is much bigger, and my right is pushed in. This affects my arms also since my left chest it bigger my left arm is smaller than my right cause my right has to compensate for the right chest. my brother always has this but its very unnoticeable on his because hes much older. my family doctor told me that i would need surgery where they crack all your ribs and place put them together properly , but its only if u want to. im just going to wait it out over the years.

I've got the same thing, i'm 16 and just noticed it about 2 days ago. I'm trying to keep an eye on it and see what happens. next time i go to my gastro doc, (i have also have crohns disease), i'll have to ask what he thinks. Not a clue what to do and whether or not there is any health risk to it. :-(

My son (14 years old) approached me two nights ago and showed me his chest asking if this was normal. I just about vomitted!!! When I look at it, the left side of the breast bone in the middle was sticking way out and under his left nipple it appeared as if it was caved in. You could see his pulse beating on his left nipple. Scared the c**p out of me. I had never seen or heard of such a thing. We took him into the peditrican this morning and she said that he has an asymetrical chest and there isn't anything you can do about it. Unless he should have chest pain or his heart should beat rapidly she wasn't concerned. When I checked his chest today it didn't seem to be sticking out quite as much as the other evening, I don't know why. Now that I reflect on the past, he had been complaining off and on for the last couple of years that his chest hurt but I always brushed it off as growing pain or heart burn. Now I'm a little more concerned. I worry that there may be something wrong with his heart. I worry whether or not he should partake in sports. So many questions. I'm contemplating on taking him to Boston Children's Hospital for a second opinion. We are fortunate enough to live almost an hour from it. Any thoughts?

I have spent a good while reading all of these posts. I workout 4-5 days a week and my chest is also naturally big. But, my left is a great deal bigger than my right. It also effects my biceps, because i have less arm flexibility and rotation with my left arm, which is a bigger pec but smaller bicep. It is very noticeable even sometimes in bigger shirts. I believe plastic surgery is an option however like most of you I am 20 years old and cannot afford to throw money at a doctor. Its a very sensitive subject to talk about with people and embarassing im sure just how it is with yall.

The main thing I wish i could do is just sit around my apartment, pool or the beach and not worry about positioning myself to where no one can see me if im sitting without a shirt on. I always find myself stretching my left arm out and away from me and trying to bring my right closer in to make them look more even. I just want to be able to have my shirt off and be comfortable!

Sorry guys about just telling another story but not coming up with a solution... but if anyone has an opinion or has had surgery please let us know, because it is very psychological for me just like it is for you.

I too have read all the comments here and would like to share my experience with this. I have experienced the majority of things described here, from asking the doctor to going to the gym. My chest is even now so here is my story, please take it seriously.

I became a chronic masturbator starting from the age of 12. After a friend of mine pointed out to me that my chest is uneven. I didn't go bareback again for a very long time. I immediately associated my deformity with my guilty habit. However, after using my right arm vigorously for several years and naturally increasing my left Pec in size my first impulse at that time was to balance it out. This lead to me introducing myself to the other hand. The amount of exercise you can do on your arm and adjoining parts through such an activity has great effect, so even then I knew it wouldn't take a day to fix. Years passed and it seemed to be working but because I became more sensitive to the fact I realised that there were other things that I had to account for. For example, my posture when sitting at the computer and using the mouse. Working out at the gym helped a great deal and has helped to even out my chest. I admit it never totally goes away, but I began comparing and its not so alien to be a little imbalanced.

To anyone reading this, especially if you are young man: A quick fix like surgery seems so unnatural to me. Identify the activities you do that may get your body uneven. Aim for balance and exercise. It helps a great deal trust me. So many people don't even think to look to excessive sexual activity as a problem and maybe I had a hand in identifying this because my bigger problem caused me other problems. If this applies to you. You know what to do. Its a life long decision.

Those stories about bone sticking out of the chest seem to be a totally different thing to me. Although you could see my pulse through my chest when I was around 12 there was no bone sticking out. Even though they can be dead wrong sometimes always seek a doctors opinion. If they tell you its normal, you have to advantage the fact that our bodies can be molded to suit our vision for it.

Check the position of your legs when doing presses. You might be working out with an asymmetric stance even though your upper body may be symmetrically positioned. I've noticed that on the side of the forward leg, the upper chest strains more and vice versa. Also, check your lats. Chances are that if one of your pecks is bigger, the lat on the other side will be too. This usually happens if one of your elbows is closer to your body (pointed forward instead of to the side) than the other when doing pulling exercises. The side with the elbow away from your body (pointed to the side) will have the bigger lats.

If either of these cases are true, your asymmetry is probably muscular and related to posture and should be reversible to some extent.

I am 20 and I have the same problem but my right side is bigger than the other. I remember when i was a sophomore in high school, we were about to leave our last class and my classmate just randomly touched my right chest, her thinking i had something under there but i didn't. I told her it's a growth spurt. It's my right side that is bigger than the other, like i said. the doctor took x-rays because it's my left side that apparently didn't grow normally. he just wanted to make sure my heart and lungs was still fine and weren't in any way possibly, being crowded. overall, my chest is fine for the heart and all but i would love to fix this as well. i can't really hide it but i still wear my clothes fitted. i don't let that get to me. yes there are times where i randomly have a sharp pain in my heart but it's rare. i DO NOT have trouble breathing whatsoever. it's not that noticeable to be honest in my clothes but still kind of. of course this is something i want to fix but lets see how working out takes a toll on it.

yeah i have the same problem. when i did a physical recently i told my doctor.and he was like what are you talking about? than he came closer and he was like ohh..! and he was like u really can't tell.but i can. and so could the kids in high school. btw im 26 now. i lift a lot. and i thought the cause of it was because of "poland syndrome" thats what the doc told me in high school. and that there was no way of fixing it. i still haven't fixed it. its and on going battle. i just need to stick to dumbell's when i lift. just to set the record straight my left chest is bigger than my right. my left arm is smaller even though im left handed (writing) but i do majority of things with my right. and so my right arm is bigger. i wish i could shrink my left chest. or something. it just gets really annoying since im really into the body building life style.

I have the same problem, I noticed it when I was younger, I'm 21 now and last night I had some minor pains, the lump is on my left side and I don't notice it unless I'm lying down. and no one else notices it unless I bring it up and show them. I've been kindof worried about it for awhile. The main thing that I am worried about is my health, I don't really care what others say about how I look. I don't have health care and I'm in a small town so I can't afford to go to the doctor. I don't have any problems breathing that I notice, I smoke, but still nothing that would worry me, and I am paranoid about my health. Thanks to everyone for sharing, cause now I don't feel so freaked out about this.

I have the same theory as you. I played guitar so much in a bad posture it F%^&ed up my right side of my chest. My right shoulder is rolled over pushing my ribs into my sternum bending my upper ribs like a U into my sternum. I had really bad pain on the right side of my sternum and I would try to strectch it or pop it. Doctors labeled it as costochronditis. Haha I feel the same way, in order to blame it on my guitar playing... I better be REALLY good at guitar. I went to a posture restoration therapist in and he has helped me out a lot with posture and trying to realign my body. My new theory is to start playing the guitar left handed as a sort of therapy.

I have the same problem, except i am 15. Many people said it was from hitting puberty fast (which I did) and they say it will go away by 17. I am not so sure and for some reason i believe this deformity is created in our sleep. I tend to sleep on the same side on the bed every night, maybe over time my rib cage has deformed from the weight of my body?
