Honest answer. Masterbation from puberty is what causes it most likely not to be gross, but it's a normal workout for all guys 13+ generally being on one side. 7 years of that and you have a bigger side

I have the same problem. Left side bigger, right side caves in. Been trying to fix it for well over a year now, and I'm still trying. Keep trekking bros, we're gonna solve this problem someday. It just takes one of us to succeed to start raising awareness for these problems.

My brother has this. It looks really painful. My mother says its genetic, she alsobgave me the name of the conditio before but I cannot remember. I will ask her next time we speak then let you know.

The condition is called structural scoliosis. At birth the vertebrae is rotated causing the structure of our bodies to rotate as well. As a result, one side sticks out, one side caves in. Same applies for our backs i.e left chest sticks out, right side caves in, left back is normal, right back sticks out. Exercise, stretching will never offer a 100% fix or help with the twisting. Although if it really does bother you, you can try pursuing the Nuss procedure, which utilizes a steel bar to even out your chest. This can help tremendously with the twisting and the asymmetry.

Also in addition to my last post, for those who has this condition, make sure both your shoulders are not rounded forward. The rounding of the shoulders makes your body feel really twisted. Our bodies are a bit different than most people due to the scoliosis, make sure your shoulders are NOT rounded. I suffered through hell before realizing this.

Spinal twisting to the opposite side of your rotation helps to counteract the twisted feeling. Though the stretch only provides temporary relief. For me if I don't do the twisting stretch, my chest extremely uneven and twisted so I have to turn to the left every so often. So annoying.

Also people with this condition tend to have one side of their oblique way tighter and shorter than the other side. The tightness of this side's oblique contributes to the constant feeling of twisting/rotation. I suggest using a foam roller to iron out the knots on the side of your obliques.

Here is a step by step guide to reverse the right twisted feeling.
Stretching the left upper back + lower back
Stretching the right side QL + right side Pec major/minor
Stretching the left side psoas + quad muscle
Stretching the right side hamstring
Essentially these are all the tight muscles that would cause the body to rotate to the right. Stretch them out to relieve the rotation, especially the right QL; people with scoliosis tend to have one side of their QL extremely tight which is a big muscle next to the spine that holds the spine's posture in place. Hope this info helps out anyone with this issue out there.

Also it would help to sleep on the side that counteracts your rotation. If your spine rotates to the right, sleep on your left side, vice versa. It helps.

I have this problem. It's pretty simple to solve. Just make sure your shoulders are not rounded forward and your pelvis is not rotated.

Here is the scientific break down of the entire condition. The condition itself is called structural scoliosis with asymmetric chest deformity affected either side or both. When the spine is rotated towards the right, the lower body compensates by rotating to the left to keep you in line. Your pelvis rotates to the left as a result of weak left lower back, left glutes, and left hamstrings. Those muscles on the right are tight to keep your pelvis rotated to the left to counteract your right upper body rotation. Benching causes your body to twist to the right because your upper body is asymmetrically grown due to your scoliosis. Essentially when you lie down on the bench your upper body twists to the right and benching contributes to that twisting a by a ton. For people with twisted rib cages/chest walls I don't recommend benching. I wouldn't even recommend upper back work because every exercise that targets anywhere above the abdomen area could cause some sort of muscular imbalance that causes twisting. For people with this condition, the dead lift is your savior. It helps stabilize your body and strengths your lower back, core, and lower body to help keep your pelvis aligned which helps align your upper body better.
All in all, it's not a matter of stretching or not stretching. People with this type of condition needs to spend more time doing stabilization work before even thinking about doing other isolated movements.

I also have this problem. The left side of my chest and ribs are a lot higher than my right side. My right side is slightly concave but it feels a lot deeper than my left side because of how high my left side is. I think I'll start doing cable rows with my abs tight and hip abducted to try to pull my shoulders back.

i feel your pain man...
my upper body is all screwed up, i think its from playing guitar.... left pec bigger than my right pec... right back and arm from the shoulder down is bigger than my left. my right set of abs are bigger than the left set. feels like my right shoulder wants to go forward, my left shoulder wants to sit back and my torso wants to twist the the left a little bit...i can't tell when im using correct posture and clothes that fit are becoming more and more uncomfortable b/c they shift to one side and it just makes me think about it even more. my right shoulder and upper back will get sore even when i dont do anything all day. And the inner pain. i cant take my shirt off or even be touched without freaking out... when im out in public the thought of people looking at me and seeing what i see is always on my mind...relationships....i haven't had one in 4 years, i want to be with someone but i cant get passed this and all the girls ive just let slip by is pathetic.... i've slowly pushed the people i cared about away and when people get too close i put a wall up. this sh*t has changed me.. i keep to myself.. i avoid people... what really sucks is that my body is getting worse. the pain is getting worse... what will it feel like 5 or 10 years from now... who will i be 5 or 10 years from now. im uncomfortable in my own skin 24/7. im not suicidle but whats the point, you know? im not happy. im always in some sort of pain. im alone. what type of life is this.

The curvature and rotation of my thoracic spine at birth caused my rib cage and chest wall to grow in a twisted fashion causing my left rib cage/chest to protrude anteriorly and my right rib cage/chest to sink in posteriorly. As a result my right chest/ab muscles and left upper back muscles tightens up to try to counter the rotation. Unfortunately the tightening of these muscles don't help with the rotation and only adds another layer of feeling "twisted". So essentially the structure of my upper body is twisting to the right while my muscles are trying to twist me back to the left. There is a constant musculoskeletal fight between the twisting/curve of the spine and the muscles trying to hold it in place. I've spent years trying to counter the rotation of my spine and have recently started releasing the tight muscles that allow my body to twist naturally as it should. For example, I have a rib rib hump, so I would stretch the concave side of my spine (right side) and stretch my right chest muscles to stop it from trying to counter the rightward rotation of my spine and just let the structure of my body goes the way it naturally does. If you look up stretches for rib hump, you'll find information about asymmetrical stretching for the concave side of your spine as well as stretches that let your body turn the way it naturally does.
In a nut shell, if your spine curves to the right and your left rib cage protrudes anteriorly, stretch out your right pec muscles and do side stretches for the right side of your body. If your spine twists to the opposite direction, stretch the left chest muscles and the left side of your body. By allowing your body to twist the way it naturally should it actually makes you feel less twisted than trying to counter the rotation (ironically). SImply because you can't change the structure of your bones non-surgically and it will twist the way it does regardless of how loose or tight your muscles are, so why not loosen up the tight muscles and just let it go the way it was supposed to?
