I've ended up using head and shoulders for years as a shampoo/conditioner/body wash, and it works wonderfully in terms of keeping me clean. As far as acne goes, I've never really noticed much of a change in the level of acne I have, because I have a bit, but never too much. I would agree that it probably could be used as an effective astringent because the one place I rarely directly apply large amounts (my face) is where I have the occasional blackhead. I don't usually apply it directly to my face because I hate getting that stuff in my eyes, it's really painful to even get a little bit in. However, I sometimes occasionally have some back acne, but again, only a little bit. I think that it helps a bit, but if you're looking for acne relief you're probably going to be better off with good old effort and patience, maintaining your appearance generally takes more effort proportional to the amount that you want to look good.

I have dealt with both bad facial and back acne since I was 18 ....I'm now 47 ..... I've used every acne product out there, I been to 4 or 5 different dermatologists and taken 3 different types of antobtics NONE worked! I read something on line about Head & Shoulders working for others. Since I had tried everything else including very expensive soaps prescribe by the dermatologists nothing worked; I had nothing to lose by buying a $5.00 bottle of shampoo. Within one week my back was totally clear and my face also cleared within a month! I think that Head & Shoulders should be selling their shampoo at an acne product ....just think of the 1,000,000s of people they could help!

I'm almost 52 and I'm Black, for years I've had acne breakouts that wouldn't go away no matter what I tried. In my mid-twenties it eased up a little bit but by my thirties it was back in full force. I am very allergic to Benzoyl Peroxide. Horribly allergic. And even Aveeno products break me out. Dermatologists treatments help for a bit but were no better than OTC washes and treatments. I was surfing around looking for a home remedy to help me because after all we can send a man into space so, I was sure that there had to be something to help my acne. I ran across many suggestions of using Head and Shoulders Classic Clean as a facial wash and even body wash. What sold me was a lady's video on YouTube. So I tried it and . . .it works. Period. The first few times I used it there was a slight sting and that really alarmed me, but I remember the slight stings from using other products and continued to use it daily. It is all I use now on my face and body. I like the feel of it and I don't get anymore break-outs. My skin cleared up in about a month. I never would have believed that something so tried and true could cure my life-long acne problem. It really, really works. I think it's that Zinc stuff. Thanks for your ear . . .

HOW I USE: I am washing my back once a day at bedtime. I use the head and shoulders shampoo at the end of my shower with a loofah. I let the bubbles sit for 2 minutes before rising off. Towel dry off and a fresh clean shirt for bed!
RESULTS: In the first week, I noticed some improvement on my shoulders. By the second week, my shoulders have no acne. I have noticed that the small zits on the middle of my back (around the bra line) no longer occur. I have 3 cystic zits along my bra line that I am hoping will ask respond well to the head and shoulders.
ADDITIONALLY: As I mentioned, I use the shampoo in the shower at bedtime. I would like to add that I am using a 1:1 ratio of apple cider vinegar and water on my back in the morning time. I have it in a spray bottle and mist my shoulders and back. I do not rinse it off. I began using this about 2 weeks before head and shoulders. I chose to keep using it because I feel it reduced the amount of acne, and it made a good-stingy sensation on the zits I already had
Good luck to anyone who tries this! I hope it works for you as well as it is working to use.
