Back and Shoulder Pain when drinking hard liquor

I too suffer the same whenever I drink alchohl. Has anyone found out a reason why this is?

This is so crazy. I've had this feeling for years. I always call it "my 15 minutes of tensity". My friends think I'm crazy and my husband just goes with it. It only lasts 15-20 minutes but during that time I'm a wreck. Intense shoulder/ neck pain and I feel very hot. I always thought it was because I drank sugary drinks too fast. Now I've read about it being Hodgkin's lymphoma? Doesn't make sense. I would love to ind information!!!

Thanks for advice. Hodgkin might be the main reason for shoulder pain after drinking alcohol.

I have this but I'm 17 years old, I know I Boulder be drinking especially vodka at this age but everytime I drink vodka my middle back tightens up and just kills im in agony for ages then it just stops after a while, it's happened numerous times :(

I too get the same horrible pain from drinking vodka. I recently noticed that I get the same pain although not as severe when I eat potatoes

I too am suffering this same malady. I've suffered neck pain for over 20 yrs, had 4 discs replaced 3 yrs ago and shortly thereafter noticed that ANY alcohol was making my neck tighten and burn horribly! This used to just happen when it rains (arthritis), but then I noticed it was happening with every sip I took. My pain works its way up, into my head and becomes excruciating if I continue to drink. And yes, it only occurs only after I've taken a sip. You hold your breath and wait for the pain to subside...and then think "did that really just happen? let me try another sip." Ugh, the agony! I do suffer from GERD, but just had CAT and endoscopy this month and nothing else was found. My pain travels upward, not down.

If someone is given an answer, please speak up here! No one believes this is happening, including me.

I have the same problem too!! It doesn't happen to me all the time, it actually has only happened to me a handful of times, but it's so weird and excruciating when it happens! I've found that for me, it seems to be a result of cheap vodka or really sweet/fruity drinks. I thought I was the only one, too. It always only lasts about 20 minutes for me but it's the worst pain I've ever felt. It happened once when I went drinking around the world at Epcot for my friend's bachelorette party. Talk about a bummer. Guess I'm going to see if I have liver nodes??? Otherwise, stay away from sweet drinks made with cheap vodka.

You are not alone, I noticed that I get shoulder and stomach pains after drinking mixed drinks,coolers and hard liquor. My shoulders tense up so bad that I be trying to massage myself.The stomach is just aching. I have to excuse myself and go lay down.I am researching trying to find answers but soon or later I m discussing this with a doctor.

I've had this too, my whole back, the muscles totally constrict and it's excruciating! It only happened with vodka, but tonight it happened with the Beer-ritas.... Lucky for me, my wonderful boyfriend knows what to do, and he intensely rubs out my muscle pain... If he didn't, it lasts for forever (it seems). Hoping for real answers!

You are having a gall bladder attack, very painful and radiates all through the body. Always drink plenty of water it may help and take advils...

Experienced same for many years. Never with beer though. I just tell people I'm allergic so as not to explain. All it takes is barely half a bottle or glass. it's radiating heat and pain that starts in my back and spine. I feel like I was hit suddenly with the worst flu ever it hurts so bad. I cannot be bothered and I have to be still for about 15 minutes then it goes away as quickly as it appears. Even wine coolers do this to me. I rarely drink as it is but this problem has bothered me well over 12 years. Doctors don't care to offer an answer. The lymphoma idea is new to me.
