what causes someone to have an barthilin cyst in vaginia area?
Hi Ebony,
Bartholand Cysts are causes by a blockage in the Bartholand's Gland in the vaginal area. There are three glands. One in each labia and one at the top of the clitoris. Sometimes the gland gets blocked from infections or vigorous sex and or injury of some kind. I am sure there are other causes as well.
I had one for many years that was operated on three times. It never healed properly. Although I have read that many people's cysts clear up on their own. I finally had my gland removed some time ago after fifteen years of problematic symptoms. The surgery did not cause any deformities or inhibit the vaginal secretion that is necessary for sex and for other reasons.
Keep a close eye on the cyst and use the minimal treatment options suggested first before considering surgery. The surgery can be painful and the time it takes to heal can take up to a month.
