Plus, the Loperamide is non-addictive
ok, THAT did it. i HAVE to reply. prior to this i've just been reading through this thread, debating whether or not to post my own comment, but that really did it. first i'm going to critique the use of high-dose loperamide for opiate withdrawal, and then i'm going to offer the REAL solution...
saying loperamide is not addictive is a flat-out LIE. not only is loperamide addictive - just as addictive as any other opiate or opioid - but in high doses it can also KILL YOU after prolonged use. it has devastating effects on the heart, and can easily give you a heart attack. i encourage anyone who is considering going this route to do a simple google search for "loperamide addiction" and check out what i am saying. there is also a good blog written by a woman who was addicted to loperamide and ended up having to be shocked back to life several times by a defibrillator (search for "Mad Margaret loperamide" for her blog - it's very informative). she is absolutely not alone in her experience of almost being killed by high-dose loperamide, and many others were not as lucky as her. loperamide addiction is actually becoming a very big problem, due mostly to advice like that presented in this thread.
look, i understand as well as anybody how horrible opiate addiction is, and how much withdrawal sucks. we, as addicts, would do just about ANYTHING to avoid withdrawal, including taking handfuls of diarrhea pills. but this just isn't the way to go. you can find tons of truly awful stories of loperamide addiction online; there are quite a few at drugs-forum, for instance. trust me, you'll be no better off addicted to loperamide than you are being addicted to whatever your current opiate drug of choice is. the withdrawal is just as bad, and persists for significantly LONGER, owing to the long half-life of loperamide. someone else in the thread asked how this is supposed to work - do they just keep taking Immodium/loperamide until the withdrawal stops? well, here's your answer: the withdrawal DOESN'T stop when you do this. after a while, you just end up addicted to loperamide.
here's THE (not "a," but THE) solution to opiate addiction and withdrawal: MEGADOSES of sodium ascorbate, taken orally JUST UNTIL you reach bowel tolerance (the point at which you get loose stools), and maintained every 2 hours. start with, say, 3 grams of sodium ascorbate (the sodium salt form of Vitamin C), and see if you get loose stools. if not, go up to 4 (taking this next dose 2 hours later). it will take some experimenting to determine your bowel tolerance, but once you do, stay there, taking it every 2 hours. do this for a couple days, while still taking your drug of choice (if you have access to it). after the second day, stop taking your drug of choice, and keep taking the sodium ascorbate every 2 hours. there are a few other nutrients i would recommend in addition to the sodium ascorbate (essential amino acids - the best form is "MAP." just look up "MAP Amino Acids." and also Youngevity's "Beyond Tangy Tangerine." i don't have the time here to extol the infinite virtues of this amazing supplement, but it's the best out there, bar NONE), but the SA is by FAR the most important part of this detox.
SEARCH FOR THE FOLLOWING:
"Attenuation of Heroin Withdrawal Syndrome by the Administration of High-Dose Vitamin C"
"The Hypoascorbemia-Kwashiorkor Approach to Drug Addiction Therapy"
There are many other articles and studies on this topic, but that should get you started.
my Prayers are with you all. this modality absolutely WORKS, though it may be a bit tedious to get the dosage of sodium ascorbate right. you can find the SA at just about any health store, or online. once you see how well this works, please PAY IT FORWARD by telling any other addicts. you very well may save their lives.

Green guys because right now I should not have taken 20. Everyone is different though. But just be real careful. Hope I don't get stopped up either! Good luck to you and God Bless

you CAN do this completely painlessly. i must stress again that it doesn't work after a single dose of sodium ascorbate; it is only chronic dosing that works, and you must get yourself up to bowel tolerance and maintain that level for a little while.
this method of detox is safe, effective, costs very little, and has saved the lives of many addicts. you will not hear about it, though, because sodium ascorbate is not patentable, and your doctor cannot pay his ex-wives' alimony by merely relaying this information to you.

if you're reading this, i would implore you to read my post above about sodium ascorbate, and go THAT route instead. you can take 2 or 4 Immodium along with that method as well, but in my method the purpose of the Immodium is exactly what Immodium as made for - stopping diarrhea. it will also help boost the amount of Vitamin C that gets into your bloodstream, as you won't be pooping it out. read the articles/studies i referenced in that post: THE HYPOASCORBEMIA KWASHIORKOR APPROACH TO DRUG ADDICTION THERAPY and THE ATTENUATION OF HEROIN WITHDRAWAL SYNDROME BY THE ADMINISTRATION OF HIGH-DOSE VITAMIN C. it's a painless method that will allow you to get off opiates with NO (or, very few) withdrawal symptoms, AND help your body heal at light speed.
BUT, if you insist on going the foolish Immodium/loperamide route, be sure to check out "Mad Margaret's" blog on what it did to her, and ask yourself if you really want to risk death. and remember, it's a flat-out LIE that loperamide doesn't cross the blood brain barrier and that it's "not addictive." it IS addictive - horribly so!!!

the withdrawal-stooping efects of sdium ascorbate will most likely NOT happen after the first one or two doses; it is the CHRONIC administration of it that will stop al the withdrawal symptoms. for this reason, you should have at least a day or two of overlap where you are still taking your drug of choice alongside the sodium ascorbate, and make sure that you're taking it ever 2 hours, right up to the point of bowel tolerance.
some people just take some sodium ascorbate once, wait an hour, and when the withdrawal doesn't stop they assume that this doesn't work. it most certainly DOES work, but you have to take it persistently, for a couple days, staying constantly at bowel tolerance.
