Best Remedy for Opiate Withdrawals

It felt like a miracle. I am on 6 10/325 Vicodin daily for over 2 years for back pain. Ran out too early and the withdrawals started and were extremely uncomfortable. The first day I took 30 2 mg Loperamide in the morning with milk and within an hour the symptoms subsided to barely noticeable.Second day I took 20 and felt even better. Lot's of energy and all together a feeling of well being. Just remember to drink plenty of water since the high amounts of Loperamide will dehydrate you. It really works! I'm grateful for publishing this solutions to a severe situation. Thank you very much!

GOD'S SAKE Curves! Spare your poor liver and get on methadone right away, if you are unable or unwilling to do the lope detox, but STOP taking anything with acetominophen in it!! I was heavily addicted to OTC Acetominophen with codeine, and the rare times I drank along with them I would piss out little chunks of liver along with. that sh*t is POISON in large amounts. STOP NOW, either get your doc to switch you to methadone, or do the lope detox, which I can confirm not from personal experience, but from a friend who did it. He took 80 pills a day 1st week, then 50 2nd week, then 10 3rd week, then stopped. He had minor depression after, but was fine in a few weeks.

PLEASE do a little more research before you suggest silly things like this! Vivitrol is just a monthy injection of Naltrexone: it will not STOP the withdrawls, if you take this while addicted it will throw you into the worst withdrawl you can possibly imagine. IF you still take it AFTER you have fully detoxed, it will stop you from getting off on pretty much any opiate or apparently alcohol, but only for as long as you take the once-a-month injection. Stop getting the shot, a month later you can get high and drunk all you like. Plus there have been reports of the injection causing serious cell-death at the site in a percentage of users. No friggin WAY should you touch this c**p unless you are rich, and feel you can never trust yourself around opiates or booze.

I am in the same boat as alot ofyou. been on tramadol for 9 years then to vics and now buying percs, when i run out , and start to shake i get these heebegeebees i call them. then the search hits, calling people in the middle of the night, panicing, freaking out because i have only 2 trams left and i take 7 at a time, i cant do this anymore. its whipping a dead horse. i have to have surgery soon and they will feed me some to try and ease the pain but .... Anyway, came across this information on loperamide, so i bought some, the first time i took 20 mg., 10 pills with a zantac, 150 mg ... didnt do anything still figitey,, nervous needy... so i uped it to 38 mg, and voula, no withdrawls. i have had 4 trams in 2 days, and i took those because my mind told me that i would have a heart attack if i didnt... meaning the addict in me had to have them. but physically no withdrawls that means NO SEEING and paying someone huge dollars for them when they know i need them. thats the worst part.. i dont want tto do this anymore. and this stuff helps..

i didnt see anyone post about the fact that its an opiod but that it doesnt cross the blood brain barrier, meaning that the medicine seeks out your opiate receptors but wont cross into your brain and get you high. so you get the effects minus the high. which is what i need..  a crutch to help me wean off pills perminently. withdrawl scares me so bad, one time i get it so bad i was on the floor screaming ... it was horrid.

try this , cost is cheap, just remember the higher dose of opiates your on the more you need to innitiately tak

I have used opiates daily for over 6 years until I decided to kick a couple of months ago. I suffered through many a horrible withdrawal and I can honestly say if there is a hell it would be a place where you are in a perpetual withdrawal. I tried everything that was suggested from suboxone to subutex, methadone, weening myself down slowly -- and none of these were ever effective. I've cold turkeyed opiates a number of times and I mean coming off of the hard stuff such as 40 MG Oxymorphone 5x daily + 30 MG Oxycodone 6x daily. It was absolutely vicious. I have laid around for over 15 days wondering when the withdrawals were ever going to stop because it seemed there was never going to be an end to the hell. I eventually couldn't take it anymore and then I relapsed and begin using heroin by snorting 2 grams or more daily. I always said I would never inject myself with anything but that was soon a lie as I began shooting 2-3 grams daily. It completely destroyed my finances as I ran through thousands and thousands of dollars.

I had gotten to the point where I felt that I would never be able to stop even though I desperately wanted to. That was when I was told something from a guy that I would often use heroin with. He said when he isn't able to afford his fix he would use loperamide (Imodium AD is the brand name) to avoid the withdrawals. I thought it was absurd but I was to the point where I would do anything to quit and not have to suffer through the WDs. I tried it just as he suggested by taking a very large amount of the loperamide (around 140 MG) and was shocked at the effectiveness. The loperamide lasts quite some time before I started feeling WDs again (at least 24-36 hours) and I was able to taper myself down to 90 MG of loperamide after a couple of days. I stayed at 90 MG for about 3 more days and then tapered down to about 50 MG of loperamide daily. After a couple of more days I felt great and no longer used any loperamide and the WDs were completely gone! It was nothing like being addicted to subs or methadone I had no craving for the loperamide at all after a few days and didn't have to face the hell of the WDs any longer.

If anyone decides to take this route I would suggest purchasing the loperamide in generic form rather than the brand name Imodium AD since it is significantly cheaper. It is sold as an anti-diarrhea pill and it is much cheaper at places such as walmart or kroger.

To anyone wanting to kick opiates once and for all without facing the hell of WDs I strongly suggest coming off with loperamide. Trust me if someone such as myself that was a hardcore pill user and an even much more hardcore heroin user can kick with loperamide than I know anyone can.

Spread the word!  I learned this trick years ago but it didn't work as I only took 10 mg.  years of off and on hell before I managed to get a degree in nursing, saw how the mechanism worked and realized 100 mg of loperamide is nothing compared to normal doses (for a junky) of whatever poison you WERE taking!  I used the generic liquid--5 bucks for 240 ml. at 1 mg per 7.5 ml.  That'll put a dent in any WD without any side effects--and no you won't be constipated as that is part of the WD.  I agree--the years of horrors are amazing to ponder Now knowing sanity was just down the road

Hi .my name s Kathy..and I have had abproblem with drugs .of and on for fifty years..I know a very long time ..well I have been on a methadon program .that was so far from home that I waw paying 30 a day for gas .and was so tired of this life .I had ruined . I decided to get off methadone .so I got down to 30 millagrams from 100 millagrams...so I could get on suboxine..well I didn't know that much about suboxine .except you had to be a little sick and get to a low doae of methadone..I was willing to try anyting .I just wanted off this .it has been my hole life of tourture..anywsy .I toob suboxine and went into percipitated.withdrawl ( ugg wanted to die) anyone who's been through that knows .I felt like I had a deisel truk engine running through my body with ice water in it ..only way I can explain how awful it was .so got back on metadone .got down to 20 and tried again .got withdrawl again ..but I knew I had to do this or die..so I w as waited 2 more days withou any methadone did it again snd it finally worked .yaaaa ..so now I want to get off subs and I am gonna try anti diareaha medicine .just please tell me this is no bull s--t. I woder why I have mever heard of this .and believe me I know everything about all opiats and all ways to get through withdrawls.so why havnt I herd of this ..I just hope it works...but seems to good to be true .anyway I ordeered antidireah med .sominex and imodeium sorry thus is so long ..well hope it works.....thanks

Ive Been On percs for about three years now a friend introduced me to them the money and not having them are the worse, cant go without been researching now for a week want to come off really bad. I have a three year old grandson and cant keep a job because if I don't have don't want to go to work and hurt so this is my question, How long do you take this anti- diarrheal pills and does it really work? Don't want to do them anymore want to wake up to my normal self again.

It actually doesn't do anything for WD's, it's just a blocker. They have another medication that can deactivate it, in case you need any opiates/opioids and they also have a few different analgesic formulas to kill pain to a manageable degree. I'd say the worst part of Vivatrol is the 48 hrs. after the injection... it feels very similar to opiate withdrawal at it's worst.

So your saying 140mg of Loperamide was a sufficient dose to keep away WD's when you were using 2-3gms a day??? I'm just wondering cause I have relapsed and am only using about .5-.8 grms a day for a couple weeks now, with a couple single days off in between. The thing is that after that one day I can feel it creeping up on me and become absolutely horrified. I absolutely cannot go back to that life, I'm so mad at myself for this. I am just hoping this loperamide can somewhat help me, cause I too have tried Subs and Methadone and the WD's from those seemed almost worst and longer. I took me a month to be able to sleep more than a couple hours after coming off Methadone, and I came off only 2mg cause I was weined down.

So you took 140mg of Loperamide and it curved the WD's from injecting 2-3 grams daily??? Or did you taper down quite a bit? I have been using .5 -.8 grams smoking it daily, so I am wondering about how much I would need. Unfortunately I have relapsed after being clean 1 yr, I absolutely can't go back to that life, I need to get ahead of it before it gets out of control. I just hate the WD's soooooo bad!!!

Actually loperamide does NOT cross the blood/brain barrier, so please do not spread misinformation among people who are seeking facts and opinions to basically save their lives. If you have ever had withdrawals from opiates, you would know that the placebo effect, no matter how much your brain was tricked, would simply not work. Loperamide works for withdrawal, bottom line!

If your using a gm of heroin everyday or other high doses of meds, your going to need quite a large dose of Loperamide. You did not state how much you took or even how long you waited for it to take effect. You also said you took the amount "it said to take" well which amount is that? There are tons of posts on here stating completely different dosages from 2 pill all the way to 70 pills ! There is no set dose stated on here, people experimented and found what worked for them.

I wish some of the heroin users or just all users in general would post their opiate dosage and their required Loperamide dosage needed to take away withdrawal. I've seen a few, but most have one piece of information, but not the other. One person says they were injecting heroin for the last 6 years and 70 2mg pills is what did the trick for him, but how much heroin was he doing??? I need this info... I'm not just taking a few vicodin or perc's so I doubt 20mg of the lope will do it for me, but I also feel like 140mg might not be necessary. I will post my results... I smoke about .8gms of heroin everyday for last two weeks. I'm so mad at myself for relapsing, but it is what it is and all I know is that I can't go down that road again so I'm gonna give the lope a shot. I shall start with 60mg Loperamide before I go to bed and see how I feel when I wake up. 

I just took 20 anti-diarrheal pills (Lopermide 2mg) about a minute ago and I was withdrawing bad! I'll post again to update!
