Hello! Are there any ex heroin addicts around here. I have honestly decide to get off, and there at the clinic told me about this immodium AD. It is supposedly a good way to detox from heroin. I wanted to check if any of you has tried to get off this way!!!!

Hey! I am still getting off with Immodium AD. It is some kind of opiate agonist that doesn't cause a high but eases withdrawal from opiates and is actually much cheaper than methadone. Just be sure to get Immodium AD brand name. You know Immodium was a schedule III but when they figured out it wasn't abusable it was downgraded to otc status. Good luck mate!!! You are gonna need it!!!!

No offense but obviously you've
never kicked even the slightest bit. if you had, you
wouldn't be asking such a thing...it's slimply wicked and downright dangerous to try to w/o the proper meds and constant care of a physician...and handcufs and a round-the-clock babysitter. Don't put yerself thru it-just cuz its our fault we got this way, we still reserve the right to accept no physical or emotional consequences. At least yer looking to get out early! The ONLY thing Immodium does is stops u from sh**ting FIRE water for 6 months-oh, but be prepared to drink an entire bottle or more per day. Seek a meth clinic or detox center/specialist. And for God's sake-if u can learn to be happy w/o opim in yer systen, do it! I couldn't. I'm still trying 6 yrs later. It takes EVERYTHING-all yer $, free time, relationships, yer body is yer prison and time is yer biggest enemy. And once u like it too much, yer screwed cuz you'll never get back to b4 u knew how gr8 it makes all yer problems feel like nothing. If u wanna chat email me at _[removed]_ and if i can stay awake long enuf, i'll tell u sum gr8 doctors & clinics. Krissy

I started off using OC's then Heroin i decided i was ready to stop but the longer you use the worse it is but there is a drug that works wonders it's called Suboxone. You do not get high from it and you have no physical withraws and you don't even think about getting high they say it's very hard to stay off of opiates beacause you may get thru the physical withdrawlsl but depending on how long you used, how much, and in what way eating the pills, sniffing the pills or herion or shooting the worsed the acute withdrawls will be and now no exactly what they are talking about i stoped taking the suboxone sooner than i should have and i never wanted to do any thing bumping my arm really hurt more than it should have never in a good mood all of this are acute withdrawls that could take yrs to go away. your brain stops producing the natural opiate it has called dopamine and until it gets back to normal it really sucks thats why they say so many people relapse they get thur the 1st week but then they still feel like sh*t mentaly for so long they use again. Luckly i was strong enougth to hold out i did nothing for 6 months but go to work come home and sit on the couch never wanted to do anything never even wanted to talk on the phone i only did what i apsoleutly had to. Anyways if youve been using a long time and alot you really should try suboxone alot a people i know went that route and it worked for them too. It's not like methodone which i think is just replacing one drug for another and the there really isn't any physical withrawl if you were to stop taking it. Good luck to everyone.

I have been taking opiates on and off for years. I have been through detox and out patient rehab as well.Ive put my family through hell and paid big bucks for Suboxian.I fell off the wagon recently and found that taking Immodium AD really helps with withdrawls! It might not work for everyone but helped me. It took away the cravings and I wasnt as sick! Also Antihistamines.B12.Potassium. and dextromethorphan its in cough meds helps alot !!! You have to be careful taking it all but I was able to fuction and slept a good 7 hrs at night! I didnt have leg cramps and wasnt as grumpy, B12 HELPS WITH GIVING YOU ENERGY! And potassium with the leg cramps , starting taking right away when you stop the opiates! This all helped me and I hope it helps you to!

I've been reading all of your posts and its great to have this info.. Ive used herions for two years then went into rehab in 2008 lost all my money, credit cards, cars, family and etc. was clean until january of 2009 and detoxed 8 times cold turkey. I was doing two bundles aday and like to sniff it, its the craving. its gives me energy. i know that i need to stop the last time i used was yesterday at 10am, so I'm sick. I hate the feeling and that is why i keep going back cuz of the sickness. I've never tried any over the counter meds and considering buying them today. I just want to know if immodum ad, multivitamin, and amino acids will really subside the wd's...i've read that st. johns wort and acia berry capsules work. would like to really have someone post there remedies and what worked for them. thank you.

Immodium AD has THC in it. I was pregnant in 2006 and had to go to the emergency room because anything I put in my body came right back up or went real fast down. When I got to the hospital, they did a drug test and it came back positive for THC. My doctor told me that it was from the Immodium AD.

I got into pills through my x boyfriend and every semester when school started, I would get back into them more than usual (living in Baltimore and the ease of access). I had been on and off for about 3 years and got down to 95 lbs when i finally decided to quit. I didnt' have a normal w/d though, i was just really hyper and chatty and never slept or ate. When i finally settled down, I put on 25 lbs and have had ZERO energy. I thought eating would allow me to regain my energy but nothing so far. I dont go out, I don't have friends due to oxy's taking over mylife for so long and ended up getting into them again due to the depression and lack of energy. I never went to rehab, i managed to find subs from "friends" and quit on my own. How long does it take to get the dopamine back up? And what can I do as far as energy (have tried b12) and losing the extra weight i put on. I want to quit for good, but it's the only thing I have in my life right now.

immodium ad is a narcotic and helps with cramps, diarrhea, plus it reduces cravings. you need to use at least 15mgs. also, for dopamine replacement, you might want to get a script of wellbutrin from a doctor prior to withdrawing. it inhibits reuptake of dopamin in the brain. in some cases there is permanant damage, however, most people regain normal functioning in about 6 months if they have been a heavy user of narcotics. benzos help with w/d, as does dxm, thc and drink lots of h2o. suboxone is an excellent medication and it's abuse potential is low. however, as addicts we will try to find a way to get off on that as well. it takes a long time and many attempts to get off opiates. the point is to never give up and to keep trying. i took me years: +30 detoxes, +15 rehabs, psych hospitals and all kinds of drugs and meds. i found what works for me and suboxone is part of that. i have been stable on it for years. i consider myself a sober individual because my attitude and behaviors have changes athough i do admit i enjoy the lift i get from suboxone. i accepted the fact that i was going to need something everyday or continue to relapse and eventually die. the quality of my and my family's life is the best it's ever been.

Suboxone is a f*****g joke. The withdrawls from that are worse than from the things you are trying to get away from in the firat plaxce. I have gone through it both ways and seen people go through it both ways. After the initial withdrawls pass start eating right and working out. Not just some p***y ass go to the gym a mess around you need to go there and absolutely wreck your body. Give yourself a month or two and your head will begin to return and you'll look damn good too.

Remember if you are going through withdrawls now there are other people out here who have beat this and have a wonderful life again. We are all with you in this and love you do not give up. Do not go back to taking whatever it is you used to take. Two shitty weeks for the rest of your life. It sucks now but its better to go th rough hell now then wind up dead in a gutter. There is no magic cure, no other pill that will make this go away. You will have to endure this but I know you can.

God is with you, I am with you, all of us who have beat this are with you. We all reap what we sow and its your time to reap this but very good things are on the horizon for you. I promise you that.
