Hello everybody. I have already sent a post in but it went to one person only (who got back to me very quickly), I hope this one gets out to more people. Sorry to the person I sent the last one to, I'll use diffrent wording at least.

I have been a HEAVY opoid user for more than 15 years now (400mgs oxy twice daily, so 800mg a day plus what ever else I could get my hands on) I've been in and out of public detox, there hell holes, and I do not recommend it, they are full of thieves, dealers looking for clients, and people waiting to take advantage of you at your most vunerable state. The only thing I got out of detox is a nasty benzo (Valium etc) addiction and the w/d from them is much worse (if you can believe it) you can die from benzo w/d. I finially gave in and went on Suboxone, they had me on 24mg's (the most they can give you). I will admit that it helped me for four years. This year I needed emergency surgery and I needed some pain management. I was told to keep taking my 24mgs of Suboxone and they prescribed me over 72-80mg of Hydromorphone (dulid). Needless to say I couldn't feel the Dulid because of the blockers in the Suboxone. I gave up taking the Sub's coldturkey, 24mg-0 overnight, I only started to feel the pain meds work at least a week and a half after I stopped the Sub, it has a huge half life. Now my doc has knocked me down to 8mg Dulid a day with very little w/d. Please everybody do your reaserch before trying a poo pill detox, I realize that they are in the same drug class but none of the good stuff crossed the BBB, I've also read many horror stories about people having to go to the E.R because they took like 50 of those pills at once. Just because one person can tolerate it doesn't mean everybody can. A natural web site was mentioned in this thread for w/d, I suggest you at least start looking there, and plan a quit date so that you have the time to get everything you need. Clonidine will also help, but your doc might not give you any unsupervised (if you have low blood pressure it can be dangerous) also ask him for perscription strength Naproxone (Alleve), sorry for the bad spelling. Benzo's will help but be careful with them, we all already have addictive personalitys. For everyone who is suffering from w/d's right now, I feel for you, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Remember that the worst will be over in a few days, and you will sleep again (takes awhile), but you can get Benadryl or melitolin for that. Good luck everybody and remember that an optomist thinks one step forward followed by a step backwards is not failure, it's the cha cha.

I have to disagree. I have used Immodium to kick a 7 year opiate addiction and it worked. I was taking approx 150mg day of Norco and overnight went from that to Immodium. Used it straight for 5 days with Kratom and kicked my habit. Been opiate free for 33 days as of today.

I didn't take 50 pills though, just took 8 at a time X 3 daily and as the days went on, tapered down on those. One thing that helped too was klonopin which I have been on that for years, only .5mg X 2 daily, small dose but it helped as well.

The 'poop pill' is a miracle and a trick to get off opiates. You can function throughout the day, sleep and carry-on like nothing happened.

And for me to say this with a LONG history of opiate abuse, I am still in awe that I quit. It really took about 2 weeks for everything to be over. No cravings.. nothing. I just don't want to take opiates any more.

Also to the original poster of this thread 'opiatewithdrawals' = you literally saved my life. I was desperate and on the verge of ruin in every way possible in my life and this Imodium thing saved me.

THANK YOU!

Anyone else out there that's trying to kick opiates, t his does work, no question about it.

You HAVE to have will power to do it. Flush your pills and GO FOR IT.

Hey man, don't take offence to my opinion. I'm glad that the "poo pill" detox worked for you. It doesn't for everybody (myself included). How can you argue with me when I tell people to do there reaserch, I did mine. People are putting huge doses of imodium in there system without any real facts or dose conversions. You must not live anywhere around me, I've never herd of the opoiods that you were taking. How do they convert to 80mg oxycodone? People ARE taking 50 or more of theses " poo pills" at once, more than once a day (not you, in general). I just gave some other options for people to try, but again people should be doing there own reacherch. I don't mean just googling it either, if you live in a big city the reference library (yes a book) has everything, and it's all factual. To many people are willing to avoid w/d that they forget common sense including myself in the past. You can also learn how to get Imodium to cross the BBB, but that's something different all together. I never said that it wouldn't work and I'm glad it might have saved someone's life, but it may ruin someone's too.

Tree man - no offense taking at all. Like I said, it worked for me and saved me. Norco is 10/325 Hydrocodone, which is nothing compared to Oxy 80's.

I wouldn't take 50 a day all at once, your GI trac would be messed up big time.

You made some good points, but I think the end user would need to know where Imodium might work for them or not.

Hydro's it does work. Oxy on the other hand, not sure. I have never taken any Oxy before, so I don't know

I have been totally clean with exception to my wisdom teeth being yanked out which involved 8 vic's, about 26 days now after a 7 years (everyday) of taking opiates. I feel good, but I feel bored sometimes whereas in the past I was comfortable doing the same thing. I can see where a person might relapse possibly at those times. BUT, my will power is strong which involves my family and taking care of them. I have a great career and very nice income and it almost got to a point of buying more pills or buying groceries for my family. That was the day where I said I am done with this c**p. It took about 3-4 weeks to get to the point of clean and sober, but SO-SO glad I did it. Imodium was the trick for me. I think as long as you have a goal and motivation, it can be done regardless of what you were taking. Also I thank God for answering my prayers, that was a big part too.

Es355gibson congratulations for 28 days sober now. I totally agree with you about boredom being a trigger. I also agree with you about having the will power to quit. I think that's more helpful than any Imoudium, if your so determend to quit you stand a much better chance. It also sounds like your faith in a higher power has helped as well. The last post you wrote struck a chord with me. I also was in the position of either buying pills or feeding my family. You should print a copy of the post you wrote and put it in your wallet (just a thought). Every time your triggered you could read it, because the sh..ty fact is that the odds are stacked against us all. The last detox I went in told us that %90 of us addicts will relaps during the first year, after one full year of sobriety the chances of total success go way up to %90. I was told that the reason for such a high relaps is because after awhile our brains forget the painful w/d and mostly remember the euphoria and the good times. If someone was asked where to get pain pills and their response was, I have no idea anymore, that's when you know for sure your going in the right direction. I have relapsed more than once, and the guilt and shame I felt was horrible.

I'm not sure if this is getting out to everybody or just es355gibson. If this is going to be viewed by all, I have a question for bob. How were you taking your oxy. Just downing them as prescribed, chewing, or IV? How are you feeling now with a few more days of being clean? Where would one find that suppliment you took instead of Imodium? Sorry for all the questions and I wish you the best.  I've gone off topic and I appoligize.

As for the Imodiom detox, I think everybody here has there minds made up to try it (besides bob). If it helps you, great. I just think that caution shoud be used. People with a very high tolerance to very strong opoids will need to take a lot more Imodium than sombody who's drug of choice is codeine, or a opoid that is mixed with Tylonol. W/d is never pleasant.

I was a heroin user for over 10 years and i got clean 2 and a half years ago - if you can call being on methadone clean. I am reducing weekly till i get to 7ml and then im going on to lofexadine to help with my withdrawal symptoms. The link below should give information on lofexadine and why it helps.

Huh? I've never herd of lofexidine, I looked through some of my medical books to see what exactly it was and what drug classification it was in. I also had a problem with H as well as oxy. It sounds like lofexidine is in the same family as Clonidine (a drug that was used to treat blood pressure), but is now used in most detox clinics in Canada, I read that lofexidine has some stimulant effects as well, which would make, for example walking up 3 or more stairs possible when in w/d (we had to take the eleavator both down and up a 3 step incline), I guess people took some headers in the past. The books I have read said that it was still not on the market in the US, but mostly used in the UK, is this still correct? My books are a few years out of date so I could be incorrect with that previous statement. This is the first time I've even herd of this method and was wondering if it were available in the great white north. I wish you the best on your methadone tapper and your conversion to this new drug. Can you let people know how this drug works for you please? I have a lot of friends in a similar situation as you, if this drug works for you there will be many people in Canada wanting to try it.

Good luck man.

Tree Man - I agree wholeheartedly, there were quite a few factors involved, some major ones.

The one that nailed me the most was pills or food. I make $130K a year and wife is a Nurse Practictor (basically a doctor) and never really told her anything about it until AFTER I was done with everything. I couldn't tell her in the midst of w/d what was going on due to added stress on my end, I wouldn't be able to handle it.

To all non-believers: GOD does answer prayers and miracles. I have witnessed first hand a couple times in life.

To all: Just set that goal of quitting. Don't let that pill or whatever control you in ANY way =period! It's hard to do and it can be done, motivation and will power is all you.

If you have a family and children, that should be enough to quit

What's the best now for me: To FEEL real emotions: Happy and Sad, what is really is VS being jacked on opiates whereas you have basically no real feeling towards emotions. Once you feel that, no drug can match that.
