I'm a biochemist. As for where I get my information, it depends on what information you're talking about. I'm scientifically literate so I get a lot of my information from published research. I'm sure that nurses could even perform surgery after watching surgery performed numerous times, but I don't think that "basically" makes nurses anything close to being doctors.
Many of my friends and family know I'm a drug (ab)using biochemist and since I research every drug I take before taking it, I often find that I know more about a drug than most doctors or pharmacists I encounter. I've had the experience of realizing that I know more about a drug than the doctor who prescribed it to me, on more than a few occasions. No matter how much I know about drugs, metabolism, potential interactions, etc., I always remind my friends and family who ask me about drugs that I'm not a pharmacist and not a doctor.

Suboxone and methadone work. I don't know why so many methadone patients are so ignorant about methadone and suboxone, but they are. I hear people say things like "methadone is pure poison" without any sense of irony. Using 'street heroin' they don't even actually know what they're getting.
Suboxone and methadone have VERY long half lives. You spend way less time and energy obtaining the drugs, preparing them, etc.
Of course methadone and suboxone are addictive. I'm not sure what you mean when you say they're a tease. You're not supposed to be getting high off them. Their distribution kinetics vary greatly from something like intravenous heroin. Also, most people are already significantly tolerant to opioids by the time they start on methadone, so of course you're going to be tolerant to the euphorigenic aspects of methadone and suboxone.
I found methadone to work like a dream drug. I was on 110 mg/day for about two years and dropped my dose down to 0 mg in a mere 7 days. Two of the doctors at the clinic even tried telling me that I was bound to fail, which I think is really stupid of them to say. No, withdrawal wasn't fun, but I found that the major difference between methadone withdrawal and withdrawal from other (shorter acting opiates) was that I did not crave opioids when withdrawing from methadone. Methadone never made me crave anything.
Just because it didn't work for you doesn't mean that it never works. Opioid relapse rates are generally high, so the fact that you weren't successful with methadone doesn't mean you should tell others to avoid it. That's so disgustingly irresponsible.
True, you don't *need* a doctor or substitute opioids to quit using narcotics, but when used properly, methadone and suboxone can make it a lot easier. More people are likely to succeed by going to a doctor and using methadone than trying to quit cold turkey.

I don't think you know what you're talking about. Can you provide any actual evidence to support your claim that loperamide can be harmful in the doses you're talking about?
I also believe that you're wrong about becoming physiologically dependent on loperamide. Loperamide does not cross the blood-brain barrier very well, which is why high doses are required to attenuate opiate withdrawal symptoms.
I also know of no evidence to suggest that loperamide is toxic to the liver. Many people wrongly assume that basically all drugs are "hard on the liver" but unless you actually know of evidence showing that a drug is hepatotoxic, then maybe you shouldn't make such unjustified assumptions.
Your advice seems to be "just quit" which isn't remotely helpful.

Thank you. Your post has convinced me to give it a try. i did try once before, but only taking like 2 to 8 Immodiums in the am and it didnt help much, but i ws also coming off of after reading these posts and yours, it sounds like i should give it a fair try out and maybe up the amount up to around 40Mg. i also read - NO IDEA HOW ACCURATE it is, that taking Tagamet (over the counter histamine antagonist???) about 30-60 minutes prior to imodium and then take grapefruit juice with the immodium is supposed to help its absorbtion/effectiveness - I have no idea the accuracy, but will try it and try to get back here and post something about it. tomrrow will be day ONE..... i hate the thoughts of it, only day one

oops... to finish, when i last tried it, i was coming off of anywhere from 100 to 300 mg of roxy's a day for like a month and 80 - 100 mg a day for a year prior to that. This time i am only coming off of 60Mg/day for about a month and nothing for the two months prior ...so hopefully it will be a lot better than the last time of four days of hell and a week of being dead tired. Again, thank you for the info !

You were very lucky you didn't suffer from a rare side effect of loperamide. I did. I had tremendous muscle pains so severe that I had to go to the hospital. My CPK was way over what the lab instrument could read. At first they thought I had suffered a severe heart attack then realized it was similar to a severe muscle crush syndrome. I had three deep ulcers that were incredibly painful, and took months to heal. I still have deep scars from them. Be careful. The pain is incredible. I could not even walk.

Please, PLEASE, PLEEEEAAAASEEEE.... Ignore EVERYTHING everyone on here told you. I've been an addict for 5 years, got hurt in the army, addicted to pain pills they were giving me (oxy 10 and eventually roxy 30's). And im sure you can figure out the rest. But, anyway, i found the absolute ultimate remedy/herb for opiate wd's and addiction. Its a plant called "kratom", the best one (this is my opinion, i hear they all work) is called "bali kratom". It will even get you high like opiates if you take enough. A good dose to start with would be 2-3mg's just to see how it effects you.
step 1: Research it if you doubt what im telling you.
step 2: Order some, i use a very great site called
***this post is edited by moderator *** *** web addresses not allowed***Please read our Terms of Use
step 3: Wait til you start detoxing from whatever you are on, i.e. suboxone, subutex, herion, oxy, etc. before you take it.
step 4: Start small, you can always take more but you can never take back what you ingest. (It can make you sick if you take too much).
step 5: My dose that worked for me was about 3g's with an extremely high opiate tolerance! That did not get me high, but it definitely kept me from going through the hell we all know as the d.t.'s!
*DEFINITELY would not recommend taking too much before you know how it affects you, it can make you very sick*
Good luck in your sobriety,

Yeah well the downside to that is, now you're going to be hooked on suboxone or subutex forever. And I know from experience, I was in your shoes. Suboxone and subutex withdrawals are just as bad if not worse than H withdrawals, I smoked 2-4g's of tar a day before I started with the suboxone program. 350 initial dr visit. My insurance didn't cover the meds, which are about 6-8 bucks a strip or pill, and 90 dollars a month just to see the dr to write my next script. So f**k THAT sh*t! Suboxone is an evil racket for addiction physicians to make a fortune from!!!! I just posted a new post on here, but saw yours and figured they would email you when you see that someone replied to this. And im not trying to call you stupid or belittle you or anything like that, so please don't get offended. I'm only trying to help any and every addict I can, because I know how it feels.
KRATOM!!!!!! SPECIFICALLY "PREMIUM BALI" is the best thing you can ever possibly use to get yourself off opiates once and for all! Without some punk ass dr that doesn't give a sh*t about anything but getting rich off suffering addicts. DO NOT DO THE SUBOXONE PROGRAM! It is very expensive and a huge waste of money that doesn't get you clean, only gets your body addicted to something else and the wd's from that sh*t is just as bad if not worse than the opiates you're addicted to now. I swear man, I used Kratom, I was extremely skeptical at first.... But once I tried it, I was shocked at how much that sh*t helped me.
Good luck staying sober bro! Have faith in yourself, and kratom!
