i am 27 years old an i have had bladder problems for the best part of 2 years now, and have had a permanent catheter in now since may 2008. My partner an me are expecting our first child soon and with me havin this operation soon makes me excited that i can be normal again but ruining my chances of having anymore children in the future - should i worry?

This is not something that I can tell you or for me to give you advice. The good thing is that you are expecting your first child but if you want more kids you will have to find another way because this operation will make you sterile in almost 100% of cases. The thing is that your sperm is directed to your bladder and you will have so called dry orgasms. You could try to talk to doctors about taking some of your sperm and save it for artificial insemination. Have you considered this as an option? You could and should talk to your wife about this as well. I hope your procedure will go well. Good luck.
