Hi ladies,
I had the paragaurd IUD and got it removed after having it for only 6 weeks, due to menstral like bleeding since the placement. I tried to endure, but it was too hard on my small body. It has now been 2 weeks since my iud removal and the bleeding has not yet stopped. I am hoping it will soon, because my immune system is shot. I have been experiencing iron deficiency too and even low blood pressure. If you have been bleeding this long too, iron deficiency is normal, so it's a good idea to research the signs and address the problem. By the way, mouth ulcerations are also a sign of iron deficiency, just in case any of you are displaying this symptom. Taking over the counter iron is helping, and when I don't need such a strong dose, I take multi-vitamins w/ iron. It's good to hear that bleeding two weeks after removal is normal. Hope you can all endure.

I had Mirena IUD for 3 years and had zero problems while on it.....we decided to have it removed so we could try for our third child and it just so happened that I had it removed right before I would have started my period. So just a few days after the removal I got my first period back...so now we are hoping that pregnancy comes easy! :-D

I had the Mirena for 3 1/2 years. I had a monthly period every month the whole time. My normal period was always very heavy and very bad cramping and lasted 4 days. In have the Mirena, i didn't cramp at all and had a very light period, but it lasted the whole 7 days. Anyway, I had it removed 8/9, the next day bleed very heavy with large clots for 4 days and some cramping. I was inform this was a withdrawal period. Well, then the next week I started bleeding light for a couple of days to very heavy with lots of clotting for the next 4 more days. two days ago it completely. I feel much better, I was very mood-dee with the Mirena. The withdrawal of it too isn't fun either. Now, I feel great. So, just relax and let the withdrawal work its coarse and deplete from your system. You will be fine.
P.S. I'm trying to get pregnant, since it's hard to tell the ovulation after the withdrawal, my swee-tee and I are just having sex everyday even during the cycle to make sure we caught it.

It sounds like nobody's had quite the same experience as me, but irregularity with periods is common. I had Mirena in for 2 years and had it removed 11 days ago. I had been told I'd start my period very soon after it was taken out, and I did start a relatively light period two days later. That lasted for less than three days and then stopped for two or three days. The first day it stopped my dh and I had intercourse, btw. Now I'm having little bits of brown spotting, occasionally more red. That has been going on for five days now. I'm also feeling crampy, emotional, and generally achy all over. I'm not sure whether this irregularity is just part of removing the Mirena or if I could be miscarrying or something. I guess I'll just wait it out. Either way, it'll be a little while before I can get pregnant.

I had the mirena removed Wednesday 25 of august. I was already bleeding when I had the removal done. The bleeding stopped soon after the removal and then that night I had blood running down my leg. But I was not cramping and not hurting. That night I woke up thinking I peed the bed and I was cover in blood and had several blood clot as well. After reading one article it helps realize that I have to give my body time to adjust to not being pregrant. Cause that is what has happen I have trick my body into thinking I was pregrant for 2 years while I had the mirena in. But I am still bleeding sometimes it is a light flow and other times it is very heavy flow. I would rather have a peroid instead of having the mirena in due to the fact that I am not in pain. I don't have any abnormal pain or cramping anymore. Another great side my jeans are loose. :-P :-P

I had my Mirena for approximately 9 months. During this time I tended to be short tempered, extremely emotional, nervous, and was described by many family and close friends as being "not yourself" or "you've changed". Throughout the time the Mirena was present I had three infectons, requiring antibiotics on each occasion. Every time I had intercourse with my hubby (of 15years) I would start bleeding immediately after. The bleeding would last for5-10 days. It got to the point where my husband no longer wanted to have sex because he believed there was something wrong inside and didnt want to hurt me. I returned to my doctor on many occasions and was told "its just your hormones trying to regulate themselves." I have also gained 25lbs. I decided to get a second opinion and the next doctor I saw recomended removal of the IUD. Unfortunately when he attempted to do so he couldnt find the string. After having an ultrasound the IUD was discovered higher up in my uterus and I was referred to a gyno for removal. The IUD has now been out for 2 weeks. I bled very lightly for three days. After the bleeding had stopped my hubby and I had intercourse (the first time in 4 mths). Immediately after I started to bleed and havent stopped. The bleeding is increasing and I am now passing golf ball sized clots every couple of hours. Can someone please tell me if they've had similar problems. There are a number of messages on here but I havent read any in regards to IUD and bleeding after intercourse. Until I had the IUD, i'd never had any problems. Mirena IUD has been the worst mistake of my life.

i had my mirena removed Oct 4th after having it in for almost 4 years. had been having admoninal pain/cramping and thought it was IBS but things got worse so process of elimination it was time to take mirena out. plus my husband and I are thinking of having a family. getting it removed was a breeze. I was so nervous b/c it was very painful for me to get it put in b/c I have not had children yet and I got it b/c my periods were so awful. but now i have been bleeding pretty heavily for the last 7 days. it will seem like it is clearing up and turn rusty and then 4 hours later it is gush of bright red blood with dark red clots in it. I feel like it's never going to stop. I put a call into my doctor today but i am just frustrated and wanted to vent. I loved the mirena when I had it in. Accept for if it was causing my IBS issues to intensify. But now it's just annoying. And if my hsuband and I want to start trying for a baby, how will i know when my cycle is and when we can try? And who wants to try when you're bleeding all the time? So frustrating.

I had my Mirena IUD taken out 5 days ago and have had NO bleeding at all. It seems like this is not the norm. Just wondering if anyone else has had this or what it might be.

I had my IUD removes last Friday, for the some reasons just did not like it at all I had bleeding all the time only a few weeks of break and then once more bleed for days and months and the pain!!! it was just to much. I got it because some of my friends have it and they said it was great they didnt even get a period and they loved it we all have kids so i thought ok ill give it a try because I was tired of taking pills. So i got it put in 2008 my baby was only 6 months old then, she is 3 years old now and I took that thing out!! I kept it in that long because the doctors told me all that was going to go away the pain the bleeding. It never did for 3 years so now its out and I'm bleeding like crazy !! clots and all !! no pain which im glad but i have never had this kind of bleeding before. I wish that the docotrs would tell us that we are going to have to go thru this, but for some reason the medical filed has gone down hill honestly all they do is charge your insurance and off you go to bleed for days and months of pain then you come back so they can tell you the some c**p that its normal man!! it ant normal nothig like that can be normal. I think that no one should get that IDU they should take it off the market its HORRIBLE. girls when we go to the doctors really lets be real with it We need to tell them what we want we pay for our medical not them they are getting paid to help us if we feel something is wrong then ITS WRONG!! lets not let them tell us what in our bodys is normal. We know our bodys whats wrong and whats right.
