Hi. I've been reading through a few of the discussions on this website and was wondering if the concept of being a virgin is someone who has not had sex with another person and that it doesnt depend on your hymen, then what part of your body causes you to bleed? Thanxx
Hi Sam,

A virgin is someone that has NOT had sexual intercourse.

It has nothing to do with the hymen, a thin membrane that can cover the vaginal opening. Some cultures believe an intact hymen indicates virginity and that a woman MUST bleed on first sex.

NOT TRUE! The hymen can tear from normal activities, not just from sex.

A torn hymen can bleed.
