Hi. My daughter was diagnosed with TTP when she was 19. She was in a coma for 3 days, stayed in the hospital for 32 days, had 4 rounds of chemo and 800 units of plasma through apheresis. She had a relapse when she was 23 but by the grace of God, we knew what to watch out for so her 2nd episode (although STILL CRITICAL) was detected while her platelet count was 9,500 verses 3,500 the first time. She had an additional 200 units of plasma and 4 rounds of chemo the second time. My mother passed away with SLE at the age of 47 with her 7th heart attack, I had a triple bypass at the age of 44, my brother is 15 months younger than me and has had 2 coronary stent placements and just last month was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism. My question is... My daughter is now 26 & happily married. She and her husband are wanting to conceive, although it is my DEEPEST desire to watch her experience the instantaneous love of giving birth, it is also my DEEPEST fear that I could lose her in the process. I hate to sound pessimistic but I have begged she and my son in law to PLEASE DO THEIR HOMEWORK before proceeding with trying to conceive. Is there anyone else out there that has had such a familial history? My daughter was treated at UMMC (MISSISSIPPI) but now resides just outside of New Orleans. Any advice would be MOST GRACIOUSLY APPRECIATED. Thank you in advance.
