Hello,

I was wondering if I could get some advice about what type of swimsuit I want to use for swimming on the team. Our coach has told us that we could wear what ever type of swimsuit we wanted and there are boys who wear briefs and some who wear Speedo jammers which go down to your knees, there are some boys who wear swimsuits that go from the hips down to their ankles and some boys wear full body suits. So you can tell that there are almost every type of swimsuit that is being worn. So taking all of that everyone is physically fit and we are all skinny, and I and most of the guy do have abbs and I have tired on numerous types of swimsuits and have worn them to practice but I can't really decide what to wear for competition, because when I'm at practice with the guys they don't mind what I wear they have seen me in briefs and other types of suits. But I'm nervous weather or not as to what I should wear around other guys that I don't even know. Mind you that in briefs my genitals stand out a lot more because my genitals are larger then most boys, and the guys on my team know this and they don't mind it if one of us were to unintentionally get out of the pool and be stiff. I have had that happen before and it wasn't a big deal but what if that happens when I'm at a swim meat surrounded by boys and adults that I don't even know, what should I do then. Briefs allow me to swim faster but its more noticeable to others if I were to get an erection, then if I were to wear speedo jammers its less noticeable but its more uncomfortable when I get an erection. I haven't had an erection in any other type of swimsuit and I was wondering if anyone else has had any problems or issues or suggestions as to what you have tired and what you wear at swim meats and what you have done when you have gotten an erection out of the blue. Let me know please. Thanks.
Your concern is shared by most guys on the swim team. They may not be talking about it, but it is on their mind.

Second, you might speak privately with your coach about this. he may have some suggestion for you.
Have you considered wearing a supporter under your swimsuit? This has been a common thing in past years and with other generations.

When I was your age, skin tight Speedos were all the rage, both on the swim team and also out in public.

These days, the mid-calf shorts is back in style in our back-water town.

Frankly, if it were me, I would opt for the suit that made me feel most comfortable, and if one made me swim faster or feel that I was going faster, I would lean toward it.

Our coach told our team that the amount of water that was absorbed in our leg hair would slow us down, and so by shaving, we would all be faster. So the day before the big meet, the team all shaved in the locker room, and then practiced, and damn if they weren't all faster.
As a result, they won the swim meet easily.

Nowadays, we realize that it was all psychological...that it felt different to swim with shaved legs, and so we all swam faster.

That may be the case with you.
Good luck.

Thanks for the advise. Okay I know that it's not uncommon for guys to mess around with other guys, when its guys that you hang out with and stuff. Well after our swim practice today, when we were all changing in the locker room, a couple of guys decided to go commando and run around the locker room messing with everyone. Well since we have known each other for two years we had all went commando and messed around and screwed around. Now when we were all naked, two guys had started comparing penis size and when someone else had seen that, it was like lighting a match and tossing it into the match box and everyone was comparing sizes. Now after that was all said and done we were all sitting around the room talking about guy stuff and who has a girlfriend and what not, and then out of no where one of the guys said that he had something to tell us and made us swear not to say anything to anyone and we all promised. It turns out right then and there he was coming out of the closet to all of us. Now when he told us that he was, I can't really remember what he said he was but I'm going to go with that he said that he was bisexual. Okay so when he had said that, my first thought was damn I hope that the other guys don't give him **** for that and to my amazement not a single guy said anything that was negative to him in any way. In fact they were really supportive of him and said that if he ever needed any help with work and stuff and eventually coming out to his parents that they would be there for him and stuff. I guess the point of this post is to recognize that there are people in this world that have different sexual preferences then others and even if you don't went to even be near someone who might be gay or a lesbian give them a break and give them respect for their own choice and don't belittle them, be nice or just ignore them. I will admit that I am bisexual and the guys on my team know it and there okay with it. The other guy and I had came out that same day, now mind you neither one of us knew that we were both bisexual so that was completely news for me. I will admit that we are friends and that out of curiosity we have to put it into simple words, we have explored each other and the guys know it and they still don't mind it. Because of all of this happening our locker room has turned into a private area for all of us and everyone is more so open to being unclothed. Which for me I don't mind but it can sometimes cause a big problem for me being surrounded by naked guys and its not really a big deal to them but it can get annoying. My question is are there any other people in this world that have had similar stories that they would like to tell. Let me know. LOL my friend just told me, I hope coach never walks in! Haha lol

As for the coach walking in, is he saying that the coach would be uncomfortable with the casual nudity? Or is it the frank talk? Or some sort of behavior?

My experience is that the Junior High and High School coaches usually stick to their office, and let the guys dress and undress by themselves... although I have seen exceptions where the coach will come into the locker room to call out a guy and chew him our for some infraction...snapping towels, teasing the developmentally disabled, late to get out of the pool, etc.

I once substitute taught at high school about ten years ago and asked in the teacher's break room why the coaches didn't supervise in the locker room more to control horseplay. The coaches looked at me like I was stupid and said, "You would want to be caught standing around watching the boys strip or get naked." I responded, "but isn't that your job, to control and police the locker room?" They all thought it was a worse thing to be branded a pervert or to like to watch naked boys than to control horseplay, abuse, and misconduct in the locker room. I was surprised by the intensity of their fear.

So, the coach might not ever walk in. I don't know. What do you think?

Hi Hittlen,

It sounds like you have a very mature group of guys on your swim team. It's good that they are open and accept each other.

For your swimwear, I'm with Kevin here. Wear what you want to wear, whatever makes you comfortable. You have nothing to be embarrassed about, either from the size of your genitalia or even an erection. Guys get erections all the time. If it happens, stay in the pool until it goes down or grab a towel. I think you'll find that if you don't make a big deal of it, nobody else will either.

I was on our baseball team in high school. I know camaraderie is important in team building and that is what you have with your team mates. You each trust and respect each other. I realize that it may seem odd for this to happen, but it does. In my case we would have the "guy talk" too. No one ever came out that I remember but it was a different time too. Being naked while changing was no big deal, we all used the same open showers. The coaches, they were in their office and never once "checked up" on us.

I think you're wasting your time worrying about something that's not of much importance at all. I say wear whatever you find most comfortable and let the onlookers worry about all the other stuff. I think most of the people who go to swim meets are wanting to see all the different hard-ons in those suits anyway. Just like the NASCAR spectators go to see the crashes but they will never admit it. Don't you think the girls at the swim meets are looking at the erections? Of course they aren't 8-| and I'm not looking at all the great boobs and butts at the girls beach vollyball either %-) Of course the only reason I watch womens tennis is because Serena has such a great backhand 8-|

I meant to write a privet area not a rivet area. Okay for shaving legs. most men don't shave there legs. mind you if I did shave my legs, I could theoretically swim faster but if my time doesn't improve well then I have to live with very shinny legs for awhile.

Actually, whether or not your swim time improves, you'll have shinny legs for a while either way. :-)

Okay so it has been awhile since my first post and many things have happened and after 12 swim meets later out of 48 events I have placed in total 11 1st place, 19 2nd, 8 3rd and 10 4-5th place. I'm really happy that I took some of the advice that most of the people gave me and I did shave my legs and other places. The only thing i regret is that now I have to wait for a long time for all of my hair to grow back and it hurts and itches like crazy. Is there anything I could do about this so it doesn't bother so much?

Oh, I'm sorry Hittlen,

I wasn't suggesting that you shave "in other places too".

I wasn't even trying to recommend the shaving of the legs...but citing it as an example of what might make you FEEL faster in the water, than therefore help the team.

Now that you've shaved, it's going to take some time for hair to return.  And I have heard that pubic hair especially can itch a lot while regrowing.  I have no miracle cure.  I might only suggest frequent washing with a mild moisturizing soap, and perhaps applying something like gold bond medicated powder to help ease the itch.

Does anyone else have any suggestions?

(Recently, I shave a small sliver of my pubic hair to allow for a bandaid from a small wcound(why is not important) and found that it also itched a great deal.  I kept the band-aide on longer than I should have, and now, both the scab and the small bare patch itch, so I can share your annoyance. Sorry!)

When I had heart bypass surgery they shaved everything on my body but my head and arm pits. The only place that hurt was my chest and I thought it was the sawzall stripe up the middle until I went for the stress test. By that time it was becoming tolerable, then they shaved my chest to hook up the electrodes for the stress test. After that it was back to hurting all over again. That's when I realized it was hair regrowing that was causing the most discomfort. I found not wearing a tee shirt helped a lot as that material seemed to catch the short hairs where the looseness of a regular shirt was much easier on them.

I know that the less friction possible can be an advantage, however I believe that the lower you ride in your cosy doesn't matter really, as long as your penis is comfortable.

As long as you ''know your physical capabilities'' and mental endurance, your set for a great race. Don't be concerned with what the other boys have or not have, know that your in it to win it.. if you don't, then don't let it be a negative... just know that your always bigger than that little ol'worm in your speedo's.

Just do it... penis size isn't everything boy

If you like to wear Speedo briefs, don't worry about getting a boner, it's natural and the soft snug material should feel great as long as you wear proper size, enjoy, regardless. I wear Speedos a lot, sometimes as summer underwear and really like how they feel. I do get a boner when I'm getting them off after swimming from the clinging wet material slowly come off as I pull them down and off, especially when showering. It feels great too.
