thank you for any help you can offer. I see a lot of posts from people who aren't on medication, but my bf is on lithium and I don't know what to do:

my bp boyfriend broke up with me yesterday. He is on meds and supposedly stable tho i see extremes in his behavior every day. Lately he has been wanting to spend more time alone and then yesterday he said that he just isn't happy and that we are done. This came completely out of the blue. He said he hasn't been happy for the past month and that every time he tried to break up with me I talked him out of it.

Since he broke up with me and after all of our business has been settled I have cut off all communication with him (asking that he no longer contact me) and he has been nothing but civil. He finished up a project that we were working on together and turned the whole thing over to someone else in a very kind way. he says he still loves me and that it is the relationship that isn't working. He hasn't asked to be friends or have any contact with me. he seems fine to have me disappear.

I'm at a loss here.  I have barely stopped crying for 2 days and I love and miss him. Since he is being responsible with the details of our project does that mean he is also making a balanced decision about breaking up with me? Is this the BP or is it an authentic choice?

I feel like a punching bag on so many levels. He knows that I am devastated but doesn't seem to care. He also prides himself on being able to "detach."

So are we done? Do bp's always come back and if so what should i do?

The roller coaster is killing me!

thank you!

Hi there,  I noticed no one has offered any advice to you. I feel terrible for you and I can relate bcoz my gf was bipolar. Bipolar people tend to be quite proud (the detachment you mention) but they suffer in silence. This will help you are you will really understand what is going on from your bf's point.
