HEllo there.

Just wondering if anyone as any information on a Brodies Abcess

I have suffered with severe ankle pain for 12 years (I am 26 just now) . Been to the doctors many times and told me there was nothing wrong with my ankle i was making it up to get attention. My doctor told my parents I was Phycsomatic (Spelling?)

Anyway to cut a very very long story short I have an x ray and MRI scans done in January and then last week I went into hospital to find out I have Chronic Osteomyletis and had to get a brodies abcess removed.

The bone around the absces was so also infected and the majority of the bone has been removed too.

I am on 18 tablets a day of antibiotics.

Unfortunately brodies abscess's are very rare in this country and I am unable to find any information on it.

My consultant has explained to me the ins and outs of the condition and he is confident that I should be pretty clear of having to get anymore surgery done but I am scared that it will re occur.

Any help would be appreciated.

Kind Regards
Laura

I had an operation to remove a Brodie  abscess when I was 15 (I am now 55). Had no further problem until it reared it's ugly head again about 16 years ago. Once again I had surgery  to remove it and spent over 4 weeks in hospital. My consultant said it was rare for this reccurence but as it had happened again, there was a possibility it would come back again in the future. Sorry to report this to you but thought it might be relevant
