I had spinal fusion from T10 to S1 in Dec 2014 and in Dec 2016 while barely leaning forward heard a loud pop followed by excruciating pain. X-ray showed a broken titanium rod. With further tests it was discovered that the head to a screw into my pelvis stabilization rod had also been sheeted off.
I have read that others have had this happen but has anyone found a class action lawsuit on the manufacturer? How in the heck does a titanium rod break? They went back in and had to fix with two adjacent rods.
Hi I am experiencing the same thing. Had t10 to s1 fusion and its now Nov 2022 heard a loud snap while slightly bending over. The er did a CT scan and found loose screws at s1. My surgeons office said that crack was a tendon snapping *NOT*. Had an xray done by my rheumatologist and it shows that one of my depuy rods snapped and broke at l3. I tried contacting Depuy and I guess they are not interested in taking a report so I am reporting directly to the FDA.
