Don't know if this will come through or not, but if possible, avoid anything that causes fumes i.e., cleaning products, perfumes and colognes - basically anything that has chemical fumes. I also wonder if you have, by any chance, been exposed to pesticides/herbicides. Lastly, if you have access to a swimming pool, that might give you significant relief - as it has me.

I too started developing this syndrome just this year. It almost drove me crazy at first bc my symptoms are so bizarre and I could never narrow it down to a specific condition. I read on the first page that it is suggest a trigmenial nerve, which may a correct diagnoses.  I also read about stomach acid on the first page being associated with it which I found to be useful because about a year I go a developed a small stomach ulcer from just really high stomach acid (poor diet & drinking alcohol.) I had received a years worth of allergy shots the year before and was pleased at how my allergies had all but gone away until now.

I have the same burning sensation in my sinuses and nose...as if I'm about to sneeze, but don't actually sneeze. It makes me dizzy light headed, I sometimes feel off balance and really tired no matter how much I sleep. My nose isn't runny or clogged, most of the time it has a numbing sensation of ascending/descending as if I were in an airplane; I also have great pressure behind my right eye as if it was going to expload. When I went to the ENT for my allergy shots they had done a cv (?) scan of my sinuses and nothing bad or negative came up in them. When all these symptoms happen at once, it sometimes gives me a short panic attack of about 10-15 sec when my heart beat elevates and I feel really nervous and strange (seems to happen more often if I have acid indigestion). At first I thought it was psychological, but after a further introspective evaluation of myself, (i'm quite happy altho not a perfect person) I came to the conclusion that it was environmental factors. IE something in the air or external is causing the symptoms/irritation.

I worked as a bartender for a long time and have had boughts of drinking beinges and partying. The one factor I could correlate to every time this sudden onslaught of my symptoms was that I was dehydrated. I noticed the pressure in my eyes seemed to be alleviated after I sufficiently drank lots of water and powerade. I know you may think my symptoms come from just hangovers (but the symptoms would actually go away in my drunken state), but you would be surprised at your hydration levels. You need to drink 64oz of water a day atleast, and if you are dehydrated you may to drink as much as 90oz+ of water to rehydrate. This will help tear production in your eyes - if you are having dry eyes or pressure around them I suggest you consider this - since I believe most people think they are drinking enough water with a bottle or glass here and there during the day, but in fact this is not enough.

I have also found that taking two capsules of ibuprofen a day which I think is about 400mg helps me greatly. The inflammation (which you may interpret as "burning" sensation) of your sinuses and inner nose will be kept under check and subside tremendously. It was worked really well for me, it takes about an hour for the ibuprofen to kick in, but I was so relieved when this worked for me.

Lastly I want to stress exercise. Altho I do party, (slowing it down now) I still used to work out 4-5 times a week for an hour lifting weights and cardio. However during my party bouts, there would a month off here or two months off there. It always seems to be in these "lazy" times that I have these sinus/dizzy problems occur. I kept thinking it was allergies or this or that which maybe it is, but I'm almost convinced it comes from just being unhealthy - which could be triggering trigmenial nerve - and when I'm staying healthy and exercising, my body is better able to stay in equilibrium. I have read almost all the posts and I haven't read anything about any one exercising!! For example my condition first started in february for a short time, but seriously in may when I graduated university; I had a month vacation and I thought I was going crazy bc of my dizziness. Thats when I discovered the ibuprofen helping. I did ibuprofen as well as psuedoephedrine (sudafed) for 6 weeks and everything cleared up until august. (I jogged maybe 1-2x a week during june-july) In august the same symptoms came back and I started exercising a lot more (4x a week) and then they cleared up after the first week of august with out me taking anything. Then In late october I started working on a tv show (very little physical activity - i'm the writer) and stopped exercising. As soon as november hit my symptoms came back with a vengeance.

I spent a whole day graphing my symptoms with the weeks of the months and the allergy count of those days pollen levels of those weeks in the months(that i got from weather.com) and since february to november of this year, my symptoms are actually worse when there is less pollen. So my only conclusion was from lack of exercise, dehydration and poor diet. Hope this works for someone as it does me. I'm going to start some lifestyle changes.

Same with me and dizziness. Feel dragged out and eyes are swollen. Very painful burning sinuses. Recently started working in a mall - not sure if that is it as well as being over tired.

please please add me to your list! I want to be part of your group that FIGURES this out. I have had nostril burning and throbbing pain for years and after being talked into getting sinus surgery a year ago.. it has been even worse. My hubby is a Dentist and doesn't lean heavily toward trigemina neuralgia which seems to be a catch all term for all pain between teeth and eyes, not explained. Sometime I feel like I am going insane.. Have tried EVERYTHING! Rinses twice a day, Cipro for 6 weeks (3 times) CAT scan, Pain meds, 800mg motrine, imitrex in case it is migraine related, acyclovier for possible herpes, humidifier, vascinline, Bacterial ointment… I would stand on my head and count backwards from 1000 if I thought it would help. Please keep me posted. I want to hear anyones story and cures.

I really think the root of the problem comes from tissue inflammation (perhaps a small autoimmune response). I used to take quercetin, sudafed(half a tablet) and ibuprofen in the morning, as it helped me a lot, but ever since I've started working out, lifting weights and doing cardio I haven't had any problems. I seriously thought I was losing my mind for a brief while and considered going to a psychiatrist, but I don't have health insurance. Lifting weights in particular makes your body produce more androgenic hormones that reduce inflammation to all the cells in your body including the ones in your nose. Quercetin is a popular supplement used by athletes to keep excessive inflammation in check. If you say you'd stand on your head and count backwards then I think you should start exercising 3x a week - and give it a few weeks to see results. Please consider it.

Do you have this pain also on your left side?

I also wanted to add... everyone who has had an MRI/CT-scan done it would be great if you could post a link here(make an album on photobucket for example) or send it to me(message me). please!! I'm curious to find similarities. Also, on which side is your septum bent? If we could as much as many people get in touch, and not just come and go it would be great for each of us. Keep in touch, talk to each other and find similarities: medicines we've taken in the past, medical history, CT-scans etc. I'm also curious, does any of you have enlarged vessels on their painful side? (if you touch your temple or lower jaw edge)?

thank you very much for your reply!!! It's nice from you to come back and write here! I'll definitely try this and I'll tell you if it worked.

But I'm curious to know if your pain was also on your left side? - it is really a curiosity that for most of us the pain is on the left side of the face. maybe it has something to do with the position of the heart(arteries) or if we are right/left-handed? I really hope you see this!

I'd like to see your ct scans and compare them with mine. do you also have a septum deviation? if yes, to which side? I've read that when the septum is deviated it usually happens to the left side, and less to the right side. I wonder if this could have anything to do with the fact that for most of us the pain is on the left side? Would it be possible for you to register and contact me so that we could exchange our CT-scans? I really wish to see the scans of someone other than mine, because i see something on my scan and i'm eager to find out if you all have the same thing on your scan. I think if we could get in touch with each other and exchange medical records or even get checked by the same doctor if possible, and finding similarities, that would bring so much. I'd say don't give up before trying everything possible. We should definitely reach out to each other somehow. Through the internet, or maybe some of us are even in the same location without knowing. I'm sorry I don't have the power to gather you all and bring you in a study or something, so that someone can take the problem seriously and find similarities between us all. We are all at different corners of the world and try to solve it on our own with no one taking our pain seriously because we're the only one. I feel motivated to figure this out but sometimes i feel really down because it's so hard to gather people and I know that would make things a lot easier. :( I hope someone reads this message and understands my thoughts. Maybe it motivates someone else to get in touch... On this forum it's not possible to exchange links/pictures/e-mails without registering and sending a private message.:( So if you do want to get in touch you need to register first. I hope this message reaches out to or motivates at least someone out there...

So, are you some sort of Dr. and able to read CT scans? I think mine are on a CD and you need the program to open and read them.

I have my CT scan on a CD.. however it requires Nordstar to view it.. and I am not able to down load it. Been doing some serious reading on Atypical trigeminal neuralgia and see that it is sometimes treated with Re-uptake antidepressants. So I have upped my prescription along with 5mg time-release xanax which keeps me from getting the Herpes Zoster I seem to get in the same place at the upper right turbinates that sets the whole thing off again. I have decided this is all way too complicated for any Dr. to sit and listen to and try to treat myself. I have an appointment with Neurologist but can't get in for two months! So far the Prozac and xanax plus Valtrex 1000 mg daily have kept things from flaring.. but it could just be a fluke and start burning and throbbing tomorrow. Anyone else here suspect they may have herpes or shingles on the that side of the nose?? Mine is on my right side.

Could I somehow copy my CAT and sent to you??

PS have any of you tried a topical like the dentist uses before an injection place on the sore spot with a Q tip? It works sometimes.

think long and hard about surgery. my symptoms are almost exactly like yours!!! I got talked into a surgery that did absolutely NO GOOD. and was told afterward.. it only had a 20% chance of working but also a 20% of making it worse. If it is herpes.. it could get things really going.. just saying' Get another opinion

How would you read the CAT?. My septum deviates toward the right.
