I've had (doctor's confirmed) ganglion cysts on my hand as a teenager, and huge (golf ball sized) one on my foot for the past few years...through my 20s. I decided not to do anything about them since they weren't painful, and the doctor couldn't reassure me that it wouldn't just come back if they were to drain it. After cutting dairy out of my diet for ONE MONTH - both bumps have gone away. Can you tell me - is a ganglion cyst partially caused by a calcium build up? Or were the doctor's wrong, and they were always just Calcium build-ups?

A CT scan I had done on both of my wrists two weeks ago showed very small (1mm or less) ball-like calcium deposits around the joints, so I beg to differ with your opinion. Also, for an "orthopedic surgeon", you sure have strange ideas about how bones work: "Rest is the best solution for such bone pains". Are you serious? Bones don't get tired or weakened from repetitive strain. Tendons and cartilage do and any orthopedic surgeon (or for that matter, any GP) knows that.

I have been diagnosed with calcium deposits 2 small on my wrist. extremely painful but I am going to wait 1 month before surgery to see if they will go away as surgeon said they might. So yes you can get them in the wrist, I also have a small ganglion cyst in right wrist but it does not bother me often and you can't see it unless pain comes on.
Anyway right now I am wearing a wrist brace on left wrist, at all times, welling went down with a steroid shot but other than that did not help pain. Dr said my deposits are extremely hard usually when i shoulder it is more like tooth paste consistency. I will update as time goes on.

So, the calcium deposit seen ON XRAY , in my wrist, is a figment of the doctor’s imagination??
