Been on Junel Fe for the past 3 months and noticed horrible itch once a month before my menstraul cycle. So glad I've found this page. Going to the doctors tomorrow. I'm glad I'm not going crazy!
I'm saying the same thing..that what is has to be. Hopefully it stops once.My cycle completely starts
OMG I'm on sprintec too and was freaking out so much for a while because I thought something was wrong w me but then I saw that itching is a side effect and found this discussion..did switching bc help??? this is a pain in the ass and it's constant
Did you ever figure out what was wrong, I'm having the same experience. I dint know if it's my bc our not & just wondering if you find something that worked?

Ok, so you're not going to like this... It's an allergy to synthetic hormones. Our bodies are designed to produce their own type of hormone, and at different times. So trying to squeeze our cycles into a mold doesn't really work. So it's your natural cycle always battling your fake cycle "bc" if you get off birth control, the overdose of extra hormones in your system will eventually make their way out of your body, but you have to clean up your diet. And sweat. Also, two herbs aided my natural hormones to kick back into gear, and regulate themselves. They are vitex berry (chaste berry) and DIM. Vitex berry helps strengthen the communication between your body and the pituitary gland. So it tells it how much of each hormone to produce. Synthetic hormones actually block this reception over time. It's kind of like a gunk build up in your engine. DIM, So if I understand DIM correctly, it acts as a stimulant to your liver and gallbladder. It effectively "cleans" them so they can process all the hormone "gunk" from the bc. I will need to do a lot more research on how these two herbs work exactly, but I know that they worked very effectively to get me back in balance. If I stop taking them for a month, the itchy imbalance comes back, and Ive been off for 6 months. I think it takes a few years to get back to normal on your own. But these herbs have helped to restore balance until that happens. I'm planning to ween myself off in a year or two. Hope this helps. It's a very frustrating thing to deal with, especially since there is so little known about this condition. I really wonder how often it happens. I wish someone would have told me this might happen before I got on birth control. I've found that condoms are way better (albeit not as sexy) than not having sex at all because you're in pain most of the month.
My doctor switched my pills again and haven't noticed the itch! Also she recommended using the monistat cream for the itch it does really help. I also noticed when I wash down there is just use hot water and just let it run down and not use soaps since it cleans it's self and it helped with the irritation.
How did you find all this out? & did you only itch? I've been having more burning than itching. I've been tested & treated for everything. I'm now on a steroid cream & it doesn't seem too help
The burning could be from scratching it, and what type of under wear you're wearing. I was tested and everything and everything came back normal. Maybe do you have a yeast infection? because usually that can cause burning and itching down there to. Id also look at organic ideas on how to treat down there because all the chemicals can be causing it to get even more irritated. I'd highly recommend switching BC it's saved me from that headache
Yeah I've been tested & treated for YI twice & bv. It says I'm normal. I just switched back to the underwear I was wearing all my life. (Mainly cotton) I'm in the middle of my pack can I stop? Or do I wait until the pack is over?
Yes, I was burning and itching, it started about 4 days before my period and lasted till midway through. The strange thing is that it was the outside that itched, and it seemed like the discharge was causing the itching. Most of this info was research. That I did on my own, late nights.
Mine has been going on for over 3 months now. I have good days & bad days. Sitting makes it worse while standing seems to help. I've had 3 doctors straight up say "I don't know" & when I ask about the pill they "most likely not"
If it's really unbearable then I'd stop taking it, if you can wait till the end of the pack and till you get prescribed a new one then I'd do that! Try keeping the monistat cream in the fridge so when you apply it then it has the icy feeling and it should help some.
My doctor said they didn't know and I ended up switching bc 6 times before deciding that it wasn't worth it. Now I'm just getting back to normal
I went to a gynecologist and was tested for BV, which is incredibly common in women. You can wipe the wrong way and get it. No one really knows what causes it but most women get it at least once in their lifetime. I was prescribed Metrotinidazole or something like that... I can't spell it. As a pill it works great but is DISGUSTING. I used the gel version. It gets rid of it instantly. I wouldn't get the OTC off brand from Walmart! It doesn't do it. Only the prescription from the gyno. Google it though because I don't remember the exact spelling. I am not a doctor so whatever I say is not telling you to do or not to do anything ... Js
