My child has an allergy on drugs and some food, he has atopic constitution, and he takes different types of antihistamines. Lately, he takes Claritin. He is three years old now and he wants to explore everything, but ever since he is on this drug, it looks like his attention is disturbed. Can Claritin cause hyperactivity?
Claritin, as other anti histamines reacts on several types of receptors, with several different effect, such as anti cholinergic, anti serotonin and depressive on the CNS. It has several side effects, but those do not include attention disorder or hyperactivity. I am not so sure about your kid, you should ask a doctors help.
