Hello,
I was diagnosed with angina pectoris in 2009. and now I’m considered to have so called “stable angina” and I think that’s due in great part Atenolol played in controlling my angina pain. However, last year, despite still being on Atenolol, I had several occasions where pain came back again, so I went back to my cardiologist who gave me Nicorandil to use together with Atenolol.
That was few months ago and thankfully I’m pain free so far, but I’m wondering is it safe to use Nicorandil and Atenolol at the same time?
Hello,
my dad is also on atenolol and nicorandil together and he is pain free - it seems to be the common combination cardiologist give to angina pectoris patients who don't respond well to just single medication alone.
Dad so far had no side effects from taking the both medications at the same time, which I hope will be the same in your case. But, if you have any doubts always ask the doctor who prescribes you these medications - it's a horrible condition and treatment for it is literally vital.
