Can Mirena fall out?

i had the mirena put in a little over a year ago and it just came out on its own dec 9,2011. im not very happy bout it. but im thinking about haven it put back in. when it came out i felt 10pounds lighter idk if that is possible but i did. if i start losing weight befor im schedualed to have it put back in then im not going to have it back. dont get me wrong i loved it. but ive gained weight. lost my sex drive. and i know this will sound crazy but i missed my periods.  how ever even though i loved haven it i miss being skinny and hate feeling depressed all the time. i asked my dr why it came out by its self and she said shed have to look into it cuz she didnt know. and asked what was the odds of it coming out again and she said slim but she told me that the first time i had it put in so im just frazzled if i should bother haven it put back in. any advice out there??? thnks for listening to me.

 

I have had my IUD since January of 2007. The last 5 years were challenging for me, to say the least. I bled for six weeks after they put it in. I cramped worse than pms. It poked my husband, as well as poked me. Last august I went to the doctor and found out i had PID. The gave me  2 antibiotics and a shot in my hip(that was as thick as malasas). They told me that they would give it 2 weeks, and if i still had the infection.... then they would have to remove my uterus.... I still have the iud in, and i am about to get it removed. I am still having complications with it... I have had a foul odor, pain, poking,... Basically no sex life.. Lol... Anyways, I have let this go for some time now.. I think i have waited to long for removal. it feels like it has fallen out. Im not sure what to do really// I am scared, and worried about what the doctor will tell me. Plus another big factor comes into play.... I have no insurance and I cant find a doctor that will take me//// the health department here is a freaking joke... they sell the mirena but when i asked about it.. they, looked at me like i was speaking another gibberish.... Im not sure what the point of this post was... but thought i would share my experience.... Peace/Love/Happiness

i may not be much help. but i didnt have mine removed it fell out. but it did not hurt. only problem im having is bleeding like im on my period . i didnt think it hurt. ive had a lot of blood clots though that im concerned about.

I've had the mirena for over a year now. And i been losing weight an not really craving any sweets. it also hasnt poked my partner when we are doing it. im worried if the strings have fallin out? could that be possiable? i dont have my period tho an could u still not have it if they feel out?

the strings are attatched to the main part of the mirena. when mine fell out i felt the stings out side my body then a lil while later when i went to pee it fell out the rest of the way. i dont know if it is possible for the strings to fall out by them selfs. when mine came out i started bleeding a day befor i noticed the stings. and i bleed like it was my normal period (that i havent had in over a year). i hope i am some help.

i have had it for 10 months no bleeding no problems. for about a month now ive been having pregnancy symptoms and just last night i couldnt feel it was looking for answers on how common it is that it falls out i havent noticed it but dont really pay attention being the new year my doc isnt open for a week so cant ge there 

I got the Mirena 3years ago I have been wanting it removed every since, The weight gain is horrible and the pain was too much. Well I was going to get it removed and go with another form of birthcontrol yet I hadnt made the appointment yet. today i jumped in the shower and when i bent down and raised up i had a poking and my mirena just fell out, my grandma has been telling me for 4-5 months that im preg. but i didnt think it was possible even with some symptoms??? But now the real question is how long has it not been in right???  

Yes I had an iud put in around aug. of 2011 for heavy bleeding. I never had kids and I cant take regular bc pills due to blood clots, so my dr suggested mirena. Well everything was fine except when it was my tom and I got really painful cramps on my right side. I had it checked out everything was fine. Then in Jan my periods started being heavy again and clotting badly called the Dr they said it was normal the bleeding stopped so I let it go, then in feb. same thing really heay bleeding and clotting but it was much worse but the dr said again it was normal. Then one night I deiced to feel for the strings I could feel them and I felt like they were hanging really low so I went to the dr to have it checked out and it was coming out. I didnt get it taken out that day cause it was late and I had to go to work so I went back to have it taken out and they couldnt find it. They did and ultrasound and didnt see it in my uterus so it must have fallen out cause I was bleeding and clotting pretty badly so it must have came out one of those times..

i experienced the horrid pains too not sure why it hurts so bad but i know how you feel

I got my myrena put in August 2011, and it was extremely painful. I cramped for days so bad that I began throwing up. Eventually the pain calmed down some... Then in march, I had a pain come back with nausea, headaches, a weird short light period. I go to the dr tomorrow, but I'm worried that maybe it came out w/O me noticing and I'm pregnant, is that a large possibility?

I got the Mirena is April of 2010. Everything has been fine until recently. I have been waking up feeling very sick in the middle of the night, no appetite, and that's about it. I don't have tenderness in my boobs, weird cravings, or anything else. I haven't felt my mirena come out, but I know it can. I also don't check the strings regularly, I guess I'm just weird and don't like doing that but I know that my b/f felt it during intercourse back in January. Any help/insight that anyone has would be very helpful.

Ive had Mirena for over a year, never had any problems, no weight gain, no sweet tooth. Only issue was the strings were too long and my husband said he was always getting jabbed and poked, went it to get it cut shorter, but it was already as short as it could go... 2 days ago, hubby and I were having fun and right after i was in extream pain.. I say my ob/gyn yesterday afternoon and she couldnt find the strings, i have an ultrasound tomorrow to see if they cant find it..

Ive never heard of Mirena falling out, but they can travel threw, puncture, and fuse to the inner wall of your uterus.
If you can no longer feel the strings to your Mirena CALL YOUR DOCTOR ASAP, it may be that the strings "folded up" words from my doc, but even so, dont blow it off! Get in as soon as possible to make sure it is still where its supposed to be!

ive had the mirena for a year now... i havent gained weight at all.. im actually losing it....the first few months after getting it.. i was having major cramping and bleeding...dr said it was normal cuz of where its at....ive been single for quite some time now.. and just recently starting dating someone...we had sex not to long ago...and he never complained aout feeling anything...my periods have been off and on for about 2 weeks now...and im worried that its fell out... i checked while i was in the shower and DID NOT feel anything at all... ive checked every month like dr said and felt the string everytime....and now.. nothing.. could it be possible it fell out without me knowing? pls help!

I have PCOS so I have always had weight gain, acne and extremely heavy periods. So the merana was awesome for me. My cycle came every month but it was light enough that I couldn't complain. I have had it in for about 9 months and have always been able to feel the strings didn't think anything about it until yesterday after my husband and I had intercourse I started spotting and a few hours later I noticed it on the toilet paper. So now it just happens to be the half way point of my cycle so if I was to get pregnant now would be the time. I am going to wait till I have my period again to make sure I am not pregnant then I am going to get it put back it. Even with the small weight gain, I will still take that over the heavy heavy periods that I always had.

So I am 19 years old and I just had a baby girl! I got the IUD put in about 7 weeks after I had her. I had my period a week before I got my IUD in. Then when it was put in I bled the intire time.. I've had the IUD in for 8 days and have been bleeding for 8 days then when I removed a tampon my IUD came out with it.. The bleeding is getting worse plus I'm cramping..
